Our LO loves the "magic box" too! DH doesn't think it is impacting her, so he has it on every night. I don't turn it on when he is at work, so she only sees it when daddy is home. Too much TV can hinder language aquisition, even in infants ... I think this is because the more TV is watched in a home, the less actual conversation there is. Infants learn from conversation and not TV. Mackenzie is talked to soooooooooooo much, as I'm sure your LO is, so I try not to worry.
I read in "Brain Rules for Baby" by someone Medina that "no TV under 2" is the single most disregarded parenting recommendation given by the American Pediatric Association. I can see why, it's tough...

i wouldn't worry TOO much about it! all of my kids have watched tv and unfortunately i have to admidt, our tv is always on. even in "background" noise situations. let me tell you, all of my children are honor roll or straight A students. they all walked, talked, and did all of the other milestones early. i used to worry about too much tv when they were younger, but have since realized that it really doesn't matter. good luck!

I'm not a tv watcher normally but I've had it on a lot since lo arrived. He sleeps on me and I don't turn him to face the tv. So when he's awake I talk to him and we play and then he'll go to sleep and I'll go back to watching Netflix. Sometimes if there is music on a movie I'll dance with him. When he gets older the tv watching will be restricted.
ha! i just wrote a blog about this the other day. i've always watched a lot of tv. addy went to the doctor last monday and in the recommendation notes they say "no more than 1 hour of tv a day". well addy was born right before march madness and now we're into the NBA playoffs so she's mostly watched basketball and sportscenter all her life. i talk and read to her constantly so i don't think that tv is an issue. i haven't changed my tv habits at all. BUT when she does get bigger i won't put a tv in her room.
