Two Under 2

clothing question

Hi,

I have a silly question about clothes for a summer baby.  My 1st lo was born in November so I wasn't so clueless...lol.

If you had/are having a summer baby, what did/are you dressing him or her in?  I am due in Aug. and we run the a/c so I was thinking long sleeve and pants for in the house and something cooler with a blanket for when we go out.....

Also what do you plan on putting on lo when sleeping?  My 1st didn't like the swaddle but I plan on trying for this one.....so a onesie and swaddle or something warmer....

Told you I was clueless.....lol

Thanks for all the help!

DD was born in March so she wasn't quite a summer baby but definitely still little during the summer months.   I would say lots of onesies....especially if LO takes to the swaddling....that's what we put DD in.  If LO doesn't like the swaddle then I would put him/her in those cotton sleepers with the footies.  DD lived in those the first 6 months.

And for outside...onesies with a light blanket is perfect.

  • I had an August baby last summer. We also use a/c in the house, and she wore long-sleeved onesies and long pants inside. If she got warm, we just slipped the pants off.

Since we also used the a/c for bedtime, I used a long-sleeved gown without a swaddle. If I had swaddled, I would probably just use a onesie.

For taking her outside, I used rompers and sunsuits, and only used her light blanket to drape over the handle of the infant carrier for shade, or to cover her if it rained.

  • DD was born the end of February in CA, so it was already in the low 60's. She lived in sleepers or short sleeve onesies with pants while the weather was mild. Once it got really hot, she wore just short sleeve onesies or little sleeveless rompers, even if the air was on. We just kept the air at a comfortable level instead of frigid.

Also, we used babylegs a lot. There were nice because if we were out and about and ended up somewhere chilly I could slip them on her without taking her out of the car seat/stroller/carrier, unlike pants. We had gotten several as gifts, but I think Target carries their own brand which are cheaper than the babylegs brand.

DS (LO#1) was born in July.  We had a lot of onesies for hot days, but we have A/C, so I had some pants to put on to keep him a bit warmer.  I would also recommend having a few long-sleeve, footed sleepers for naps and nighttime.  I also like the short-sleeve/shorts one-piece outfits.
