We never did anything with the walls of the nursery, and I'm looking for something to do to decorate it now that I have some free time. I've seen some cute wall decals on home design shows and on etsy, but I haven't made up my mind on the concept. What say you, BOTB? Cute or tacky? If you're in the cute camp, any favorite sites for them?

Re: Wall decals: Cute or tacky?

I like to cruise Etsy for them. I think they're cute, esp the ones that look like trees. I want to put one of those up in our nursery, but I haven't quite decided yet.
ETA: If I could paint I'd probably paint the walls and not do a decal, but since we rent I need something temporary.
I think they are cute, but can be overdone.
We had one up in their original nursery (they have moved rooms so now it's our office) of a single monkey on a vine and it went perfectly if I do say so mysefl
I like the ones that are one color, like they were stenciled or stamped.
This is the one in Camille's room, it's probably 2.5' wide and about 2' tall.

We will more than likely be moving in the next year so we wanted something inexpensive for the nursery wall. (We did a full mural in Chase's room)
We went with this one. Clicky It is really cute up. I have actually had a few people ask if it was painted.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
I like them. You can go overboard with them, like in my 4yos room, but HE picked it out, he has a bunch of trains and stuff for his walls that he can move around. I like the 1-2 color ones that are more silhouette than an actual image if it is something I pick out.
Shhh. don't tell Mom... I peed in her bed

This. One or 2 in a room are fine (Camille's is REALLY cute). My MIL sells those and has them on every wall of her house- then it's really tacky.
We don't really have a theme for the nursery, but DH is big into sailing so I was thinking a boyish sailboat (that could then be moved to his big boy room if #2 is a girl).
ETA: And for the word ones, I'm not talking about the "Dream"/"Love" variety. Something more specific and meaningful for us.

I have a tree in B's nursery & plan to add her name now that she's here - I think they are nice when done tastefully:
Seriously cute room!
I'm in love with this room!!!!
I am in the it depends camp. We have some zoo animals up in the boys' room. They look ok, but are not my favorite. But the boys' love them! And since their room is minimalist to say the list, I think it is nice.

That's fantastic!
We have this one above Sadie's crib:
It looks great and I like that nothing can fall and bonk her on the head. It's from etsy store studiojk.

Totally depends. The trees Mrs White and Mrs B posted? Love.
Crap like "Live, Laugh, Love" about the couch in the living room? Makes me want to set the house on fire.
Here's mine...
We live in an apartment and cannot paint hte walls, so we used wall decals. We did DD's nursery in a jungle theme, and it's really cute. It isn't over done, but I know people do overdo it with the decals. DD loves it, and it's how she learned "elephant" and "giraffe"
I would have LOVED to have painted the walls. Count yourselves lucky, those of you who could paint your nurseries.
