Anyone using the Close & Secure Sleeper?

I received the Close & Secure Sleeper as a baby shower gift even though I wasn't registered for it.  I like the idea of it, but it says it is supposed to only be used on an adult sized mattress in between DH and I.  I don't want to co-sleep and certainly don't think there is enough room for this in our queen sized bed.  Does anyone know if this HAS to be used in our bed, or if we can use it more like a bassinet or moses basket??  Anyone have experience with this?

Here is a link to the product:

  • I would assume you could just put it on a dresser.  We have a queen too, and I don't think there is enough room for a baby in bed to even feel slightly safe about it.  If it were me, I would probably get one of those grippy mats that you put under rugs or in kitchen drawers so that if the baby wiggles a lot it won't slip off the dresser onto the floor.

  • We got one too. We're using the PNP in our room for the baby at night but I'm keeping the sleeper to use around the house. I don't really feel like hauling the PNP up and down the stairs 100 times a day so I'll put the sleeper on the couch or on the daybed in my office instead.

  • I didn't get one of these. I did however, receive a nap nanny (which I didn't register for). I don't need it at all considering my house is one story and between swings, pack n plays, crib, bouncer.. it's just unecessary. What I DO plan on doing is keeping it in my car for when I take LO to visit places. Say I want to go to a friends house for a few hours or to the in-laws... I will have a place for LO to take a nap. You could do the same if you don't really need it. It's not a bad idea. I remember feeling bad for a friend of mine when she brought her baby to my house last year and I didn't have a good place for her to nap.

Yikes. I wouldn't think of placing or using the cosleeper on a dresser. If you need to use it at all but not in bed, I would choose the floor over the dresser. Of course as long as the location on the floor is away from vents/heaters, definitely not where you could trip over it when you get out of bed in the middle of the night, AND absolutely if there's no pets in the house that could get to the baby unsupervised.

My friend uses it like a bassinet for baby to sleep in when she and the baby are in the second floor of their 2-story home during daytime while she was on maternity leave for 6 weeks after baby was born. If I had one, I would use it like that too while the baby is pretty small and young.

  • I used a co-sleeper with my son and am using it again with the new LO. I have to say, I love it! It's great for breastfeeding at night. But we have a King bed. I really don't think we could get away with using it in a queen. I would NOT put it on the dresser, unless you just plan on using it as a diaper changing station. It's also good for travel, or if you plan on visiting grandparents, friends, etc for a while. I would keep it if I were you. You can def find a use for it.
