We are taking a trip to Disney this summer. DD is scared of the dark and i know most of the rides are inclosed and are dark, but i was wondering if there were any rides that stood out as being scary and we should avoid. TIA!
My 3 year old rides everything, including Tower of Terror. LOL But I've heard of some kids being scared of Pirates of the Caribbean, Snow White, and Haunted Mansion.
My 4 yr old is a thrill seeker, so he'd go on anything that looked interesting. My youngest (2) is not a big fan of BIG rides. I think he'd be happy with the dumbo ride or the teacups. We are going to Disneyland in a couple years, so we'll find out. But I'm going off of their personalities.
Well, let me preface by saying I have a VERY sensitive child who hates loud noises that he isn't expecting. He was not a fan of Pirates of the Carribean at all, between the dark and the canons that go off. Because of that we didn't even try Snow Whites Scary Adventure, the Stitch ride or Haunted mansion. He liked the Peter Pan ride b/c he knew the story and did fine on the Pooh ride as well. We rode the Buzz ride at Magic Kingdom about 15 times, it was his favorite.
None. She wasn't scared of any of the rides we road. We also didn't ride any rides that a 2 year old couldn't though. Both of mine also loved the Toy Story ride.
Take her on the nice open rides first so she understands them and sees that they are all about characters etc. Peter Pan is fun, but scary if its the first ride. Definitely stay away from Pirates and Haunted Mansion. The safari ride is somewhat scary cause the animals seem real (even to me sometimes haha), but other than that you'll be able to tell Have fun!
DS was really scared in the LILO and Stitch show/ride in Tomorrowland. Definitely avoid - it is pitch black for long periods and you are strapped into your chairs.

We have season passes to WDW and there are a few rides that scare DS: Haunted Mansion, the Nemo ride @ Epcot, and I'm pretty sure there are more but I can't think of them. All of these are because of the darkness, but there are other dark rides (Pirates, the Mexico boat ride @ Epcot, etc) that he loves. He hasn't been in the Lilo and Stitch show, but I think he wouldn't like that one either.
None at all, DD was three when we went and was not scared, we are going next year when they will be 3 and 5 and i doubt they will be scared of anything again, my kids love stuff like that and have no fear,.
DD is OK with darkness but does not like when it goes completely black. That being said these are rides she did not like: Pirates: has a part before the drop that it goes completely black. She also really doesn't like fire, which there is a fair amt of it
Snow White: darker lighting, focuses on the witch, DH and I both surprised by how "dark" the mood of it was
Peter Pan: She wasn't scared per say, but she avoids it when we go, so something is off putting to her about it even though she loves Tinker bell/Neverland/Peter Pan.
Winnie the Pooh: Goes from dark/rain storm to Pooh having an out of body experience to a psychedelic romp
Maelstrom @ Epcot: Rain/storm sequence, overall dark lighting and not character driven
Rides that she surprisingly loves: Haunted Mansion: she thinks it is funny and claims it is her favorite ride
Nemo ride @ Epcot: loves the ride despite the dark lighting, some scarier animation sequences and the fact she is petrified of the movie
We took DS in October a few months after his 4th bday. We watched a bunch of You Tube Videos on rides so he could preveiw some of them. He liked most of the rides. He is afraid of any type of show/movie..the loud sounds get him. He hated Fantasmic..cried the whole time. He got a little scared in Snow White's Scary Adventure. He didn't like the log ride....but did it. He was scared on Thunder Mountain Railroad (his exact words after the ride were "Mommy that was a BAD choo choo!" LOL!). He would not do Pirates of the Caribbean. He also did not like the Lilo and Stitch ride...kind of creepy -it locked you in your chair. He was crying....poor thing! Loved most of everything else. I have our 1 day no line plan in my supermom blog I believe. We did manage to avoid all the lines...worked like a charm!
