Trouble TTC

So far no progress on Clomid - a question

This cycle I did 100mg clomid and we're supposed to do Ovidrel and IUI.

Baseline u/s and blood work was all normal on CD 3.

Went in on CD 10 - lining was 4ish and I had one follie on each side around 10.

Went in on CD 13 - lining was 7ish and follies were the same.

Went in today (CD 16) - same as previous appointment.

The RE said it's not unusual for follies to be this size at CD 16 but she said it is slightly unusual for them to stall like this for practically a week. She did say that she's seen stranger things and that it's still possible that they'll grow. I go back on CD 20 (Thurs) and if there's no progress by then, she said we'll discuss other options.

But anyway, my question is what would those other options be? I didn't really think to ask her then. Will she cancel this cycle or is there something else they can do?

I'm such a newb at this ::blushes::

  • Hey there! I'm no expert, but I'm thinking your options might include stims. When I dud Clomid on it's own, nothing happened but now that I was put on Follistim, my follies actually grew. I hope you see some progress soon, GL!

  • Other meds would be other options. Some Re will give you femera some will move on to injectibles. Many people (including me) do not repined well to clomid. You can also do a higher dose of clomid. Typically the cycle would be cancelled and the other options would be for next round though some REs will give adtl meds now.
  • I'm sorry the Clomid doesn't seem to be working! I had the same thing happen- but I never ovulated. I finally did on a massive dose- but it caused a cyst.
Hopefully you and your Dr. can figure out something that works.

You could ask about Femara... It is cheaper than jumping straight to injectible meds.

  • Hi Slick!!! Hope you dont mind me answering.  The cycle I did 100mg I didnt O until CD31 which my RE considered "unsuccessful".  He wanted to give me provera at CD 30 and start over but I waited it out.  The next cycle he upped it to 150mg which ended up being the right dose for me (although it didnt get me KU).  You can go up to 200mg of clomid (some docs even do 250mg).  GL. I hope those follies start growing in the next few days!

  • I'm not sure exactly because 50 mg is all I needed. However, I'm thinking that you may be needing an extra boost with a stim, like Gonal-F or something like that. The only reason I'm thinking this is because when I was doing my meds for the first part of the IUI, they said if my ovaries arent' responding like they like, then I will take this stim and it could help. It's just realllllllllly expensive....
