TTC After a Loss

Okay, let's talk EWCM

I have none. I want some.

I've been taking:

twice a day since CD 8.

Friday I had some EWCM and I was so happy. It wasn't a ton, but it was stretchy. Well, I haven't seen it since.

I'm drinking green tea to help get things moving down there again, but is there anyting else I can do? I don't really want to take more pills, but if there's something else out there that has helped you, please let me know!

Oh, and EPO is out. There was a post awhile back about how a doctor doesn't know if it works well while you're on clomid, i figured it's not worth the risk.

DH and I plan to use preseed, but I'd really like some EWCM of my own.

  • When I asked my RE about lubrication, she recommended vegetable oil.  She said she hates telling people that, but it works.  She said "The only fertility friendly lubricant is Preseed, and it's too expensive.  If you need lubricant you can use Crisco, vegetable oil, mineral oil, etc."  Just in case you're ever on a super tight budget. Ew that video is gross....turkey basters are not made for that! We used preseed on my Clomid cycle and it worked like a charm :) I have never used anything else to help. I did have small amounts of my owm EWCM though.

I'm thinking about this. Let's see is my logic makes sense or is flawed. Here is my thought process...

EWCM forms when the body produced estrogen a few days before O. The mucus pug sealing the uterus is chemically altered and begins to shed and change to an egg white consistency, this both opens the cervix enough to let sperm swim through and provides the means for them to do so.

Now, if you don't produce very much cervical mucus in the cervical canal to begin with, you aren't like to have much ewcm when the signal is sent. Or, if you produce low quality CM it can be too thick, then sperm exhaust their energy stores just getting to the uterus. An expectorant like Mucinex can thin the CM until it approaches healthy ewcm.

But what if you don't produce much CM to begin with and you have low quality CM, too? So, you take the Mucinex, the mucus plug thins to ewcm, but it flows out before you actually O?

To me, it sounds like this might be happening, if it's possible. So, I would try using the preseed this cycle as planned, and if you need another cycle, then try starting the Mucinex later than CD8. If you O today, then I would try starting it on CD10 next time. If you O tomorrow, then try starting it CD11. Basically try to time it so that you get the ewcm nearer to the day you O.

    Does that make sense?

This makes sense to me.  I always have to comment about the Mucinex thing:  It will NOT make you produce more CM; it will only thin out the thick stuff.  That's how Mucinex works.  I know they say green tea helps you produce more of it, but I'm not sure I believe it.  I drink the stuff daily and it hasn't made much difference for me.  PreSeed is by far the best way to go.

  • I agree with the PP's - I believe Mucinex will only thin out what you already have, not produce more.  I tried the Green Tea thing and it did seem to help; but I think it was possibly more about keeping hydrated than anything.  So my advice is to drink lots of water.  And the preseed should help - I am going to try that for the first time this cycle as well.  Good luck!

    I'm afraid to YouTube this...

I brought up egg whites to my RE, and she was like, "EWWW, NO!!  Don't.  Telling people to use vegetable oil is gross enough." HAHAHA!!

  • I would not even attempt the egg whites thing. It seems like raw eggs up there would be a breeding ground for infection Ick!

  • I only have EWCM for about 2 days...

After my ectopic i started drinking Raspberry leaf tea and the following cycle i had an INSANE amount of EWCM (so did a friend of mine and she got her BFP that cycle)...  Whenever i drink it i have more EWCM than normal... I have heard Green Tea to help also but I cant personally vouch for it.
