SUV recommendations (again) - NBR

Hi girls! Well, I aksed a while back if anyone would recommend their SUV or crossover and have now lost the thread. We were planning to get a bigger car over the summer but yesterday DH's car bit the big one so we have to make a decision soon. We're so up in the air about whether we should buy new or used or lease. Since I'm not commuting anymore, I could go either way. Does anyone absolutely love their car? Reliability and safety are #1. Price comes second but it needs to be reasonable. TIA (again!!). Oh, and happy weekend! :)

  • We have a 2006 Escalade. Since it wasn't new, it really wasn't that bad price wise. And it's HUGE! I feel so safe in it. I do wish there was a middle seat for LO, but that's just because I'm crazy. It's big, safe, and super nice! :)

  • I have a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe and I absolutely love it.  Fits two car seats easily in the back seat, and there is plenty of storage room for all our gear.  We have had zero problems with it in 3 years, and Hyundai has an amazing warranty.  We compared a lot of different SUVs when we were buying and decided the Santa Fe offered the most options and quality interior materials for the price.

  • We have a Nissan Armada and we LOVE it, but it eats gas like you wouldn't believe!! We are going to trade it in for a GMC Terrain. It gets 36 MPG, it's reasonably priced, and it's cool looking! they just came out in 2010. Check it out. :)
  • We have an 04, Hyundai Santa Fe and I like it. That is one of my H's cars. When we found out we were expecting, we needed to get me a bigger car. (The Santa Fe used to be mine). I ended up getting an 08 Toyota Highlander. I need the 3rd row for work. (Nanny 3 other kids plus my own) I absolutely LOVE it. It's so much nicer than the Santa Fe but I still like that car too.
Baby, you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales...

We have a Mitsubishi Endeavor. We did a TON of research and finally decided on an Endeavor based on price, safety, and MPG. We bought it used and got a great price on it. I've been driving it since December and completely love it so far. It only seats 5, but the MPG was better than anything bigger. I wish it had air vents in the back, and maybe the newer ones do. Ours is a 2005.
  • We just bought a 2010 Ford Escape.  I couldn't be happier!  I had a small car and to get LO one in was such a hassle and literally a pain in my back.  It's not too bad on gas.

  • We have a Toyota Rav4 and really like it. It is plenty big, without feeling like you're driving a huge truck around.

I searched "marchabc suv site:community.thebump.com" in google.

Thank you! They made me a bronze poster but I still feel like a newb.

Also, thanks for the recommendations!! I am going to go check them out. It's always good when someone loves their car. I haven't loved a car for many years so I'm ready. :)

  • I drive a 2010 Honda CRV and I LOVE it!  It's not so huge that I feel awkward driving it, but it has lots of room inside and has a 5 star safety rating.  GL in your car shopping! :)

  • We have an '09 Toyota RAV-4. I love it! It gets better gas mileage than most SUVs (which is essential these days!), and it feels really safe.

  • We have 2009 CRV that I used to drive (it is my hubby's car now). I loved that car. The gas mileage was pretty good for an SUV. It also has great safety ratings. We leased this car and got a great deal. Honda has pretty good lease options.

I now drive a 2011 Honda Pilot. It is great. Tons of space and I love the 3rd row. We have 3 kids, so we needed the extra seating. We got a great deal purchasing the vehicle by negotiating through the internet sales dept. The price was set without even stepping foot on the dealership. The whole transaction took about 1 hour once we actually showed up. I highly recommend you negotiating before you show up.

I really appreciate this advice. I really don't like the whole dealership experience. I know that they need to make money and appreciate that it's probably hard for them too, but I often feel pressured and uncomfortable and it can be so time consuming. I will definitely talk to the internet sale dept if I'm interested in a car. Thanks!!!
