s/o Newborn Clothes

what are yall doing with the newborn clothes?  are you keeping ALL of them for future LO's or donating them or giving them away to friends/family that will have the next baby?

i will keep some of the onesies i made with iron-ons (cause addy wore one home and the other says (c) 2011 and that's just too cute to give up) but i just don't know what else to do with them.  just leave them in a box?

Re: s/o Newborn Clothes

  • I'm going to sell them at our garage sale in a few weeks. I'd save them, but chances are I'll just go crazy again with the shopping. I'm what you can an addict.

  • I want to save her clothes and turn it into a very cool quilt. I have always wanted to make one and this seems like the perfect way to do it. It will be with her for a really long time. **runs off to google how to make one**

  • I'm keeping them until we're finished having kids. We want to have them close together, so they shouldn't be out of style by the time the next kiddos come along. Once we've decided we're done (or find out our last one is a boy), I'll probably garage sale all but a few sentimental pieces.

  • We're giving ours to a friend who's having a baby in a few months esp since she's also having a boy. We were given a lot of hand-me-downs from a friend who had a baby before me so we're sharing the love.

  • We're passing kids clothes between my sis, me and sil (except a few sentimental outfits).
  • We saved all off #1's clothes for #2....he happened to be a boy as well so we can reuse some of it.  They were born in different seasons though so we'll probably still need some new stuff.  We're most likely done having kids so once #2 is a little older we'll have a big garage sale.  I have 10 rubbermaid bins full of clothes from newborn to 3T!

I put all of mine in a tote and it's being stored in the basement.  If we have another one and it's a boy, we can re-use it all.  If we have another and it's a girl, I'll pick out the neutral stuff and then give the rest away or donate it.

  • They are going into two storage bins.  One bin is for the outfits that have sentimental value that are not to be borrowed, sold, or other.  The second bin is for stuff for SILs and friends to borrow from - but I want back for future kids!  I am a clothes hoarder when it comes to my own clothes, so why would baby clothes be different?

Love the quilt idea!  I think when we are done have babies this would be an awesome thing to do.

This. And to be truly honest, I only have about 5 pieces that are "newborn" and maybe another 10 that are 0-3 months. He can still fit in a couple 0-3's but for the most part he's in 3 month Carters.
Baby, you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales...

  • I want to keep all the baby clothes until I'm done having babies. After that I may give away or donate it all. But until then everything is boxed up in the attic.

  • i don't want kids close together and honestly will not even discuss beginning to think about the next kid, if there will even be one. so i'll probably pass on the clothes to whoever is having a baby next. we have lots of neutral stuff then when i actually had a little girl i went and bought cutesie things so i can give to either team blue or team pink. and i know that if there is another kid i'm going to want to do the shopping all over again.  same with the maternity clothes.  90% of my stuff came from goodwill so i'm ok with donating them right back seeing as how i didn't spend more than $60 on my maternity wardrobe.

  • I stored them in a container in the basement. If LO #2 happens to be a girl, we'll reuse. If not, i'll donate some items or give them to friends.

  • There are a few things that I'll pass onto a friend of mine who is having a girl in a month, but for the most part everything will get boxed in a tote until we decide for sure whether #2 is a possiblility or not. If we don't have another baby then I'll probably sell what I can at my church's mom-to-mom sale.

Keeping everything! We bought a big plastic bin that I labeled "Chloe's First Year clothes." We'll keep it on our front porch out of the way as we add things she grows out of, then to the basement once the first year is over.

I assume I will either use them for our next LO or I can give the non-stained girly stuff to a friend or family member if our next is a boy.

  • I'm also doing the quilt idea. Well, a friend is doing it for me b/c I don't think I could actually do it. I want another LO in about 5 years, but DH is still stuck on just having 1 so we'll just re-buy everything if we do have another.
