getting donated BM from a stranger through a group like Human Milk 4 Human Babies? Is it strange? Is it safe?
I have done everything in my power to produce more BM for my DS but I am still only making about 8 oz of the 27 he eats a day and that is if he eats as well as he has at our three weighed feedings (with the LC).
Re: what do you think of...
BFP#1 "Watermelon" born 3/2011
BFP#2 "Pumpkin" 7/14/12 ~ EDD 3/23/13 ~ Natural M/C 8/3/12 @ 7 weeks
BFP#3 "Pineapple" born 4/2013
BFP#4 "Grapefruit" EDD 3/29/16
My son got donor breastmilk in the NICU during the time when he was transfered to the Level 3 NICU and the time I was discharged from the hospital where he was born. If you get it through a reputable bank, it's just as safe as donated blood, I think. It's crazy expensive through a bank, though.
That being said, I know there are a lot of milk swaps and things that aren't screened. I wouldn't do that.
I agree. I wouldn't do this. Even though I'm sure 99.99% of the donors are well intentioned and providing good, clean BM there are some whack jobs out there. I wouldn't trust a total stranger.
