So I went to my almost 40 wk appt on 5/5 and my MW stripped my membranes in hopes of sending me into labor over the weekend. We talked about inducing and decided since she was on call that next Thurs. that we would do it then. She went to make the call and came back and said, well I remembered I also work Tuesday, how's that? Of course I didn't complain about it being 2 days sooner. I had contractions on and off all weekend and lost what had to be all of my MP, but no active labor.
Tuesday morning we arrived at L&D for our 9 am induction and I was still just 2 cm with a very soft cervix. They started pitocin about 10 am and upped it every 30 min. Around noon the contractions were pretty intense and lasting forever. One contraction was 5 straight minutes of torture. I knew they were only going to get stronger so even though I hadn't dilated more I decided to get the epidural. My nurse also recommended getting it then so my body could relax and things would progress. So they inserted the epidural about 1:30. A little over an hour later I felt extreme pressure and felt the urge to push. My nurse checked me and I was 9 cm! My MW had just pulled into the parking lot so I had to wait for her to get to my room and get ready. That was the hardest part, holding back the pushing. As soon as everyone was in place and the next contraction came I pushed 3 times and there she was! I was able to reach down and pull her up onto my chest. Awesome feeling! I didn't tear so didn't need stitches. Recovery is going great and Brielle is nursing great! We got home yesterday and are all adjusting very well to our new famliy of 4!
