I'm the Devil? Rant.

People are so funny and judgemental.
Yes I have quite a few tattoos... and yes I have piercings. In fact I have a "bull ring" and if I hadn't just got it... you wouldn't know I have anything pierced except my ears!!!

I guess when you are holding and feeding a newborn and have either tattoos or piercings (or both in my case) you are not a good parent. I got stares today that just screamed "You're going to be a bad mother!!!" and "You're the devil!"

I do what I do to make myself happy and feel like I belong in my skin. Oh and the fact that I planned to have this baby for years has nothing to do with what I put on, or in my skin. And tattoos and piercings have no impact on a person's mothering or fathering skills.

My rant is done... People are just so close minded and rude. BAH!!!

    I think it depends on where you live, too.  Here in Louisiana, my forearm tattoo gets a lot of nasty looks.  But back home in Virginia Beach, people could really care less.  I definitely get looks when I'm out with LO, but it's almost always from someone who's over 60 and probably disapproves of us "damn kids" no matter what!

    I agree w pp. It is generational and regional. Just before I went on leave we had a meeting about dresscodes and tattoos and piercings. The elder staff in the too Made a comment about a policy asking that tatts be covered and piercings taken out was not even needed since we would never hire anyone like that any way. I said I will always hire the best person for the job no matter what. If they have piercings and tatts we will deal with that. She was not happy with me. I don't care. This in Texas in 2011. I had the exact same conversation in Connecticut in 1998. The people that tend to apply are just out of college, earthy crunchy free spirits. They may just have some tatts.

    My ex BIL has tattoos and piercings all over his body he is a biker through and through.  He is also the most loving father you would ever meet.  People judged him over and over just for his looks, it didn't matter how loving his was to his two children it was the tattoos and piercings.  

    People are too quick to judge by appearances alone.  It's very sad all they have to do it look that you are taking good care in raising your child.
