Birth Story - My Introduction :)

Hey everyone!

My name is Jerrica. I am a Single Mommy to Parker Chance, who was born on April 5th at 12:06 am. I was due on March 30th, but my stubborn little guy decided to make me wait to meet him.

Birth Story:

On Sunday, April 3rd, I checked into the hospital around 5 pm to get a cervical balloon inserted because I had had no dilation or progress what-so-ever. Around 4 am the following morning the balloon fell out and at 6 am they started pitocin. After a few hours of intense back labor, I got my epidural and slept a few hours. While I was sleeping, apparently Parker's heart rate kept dropping so they had to lower the dose of pitocin, which meant it was going to take me forever to fully dilate. After 16 hours of labor, most of which I didn't feel, I was fully dilated and it was time to push. After 2 hours of pushing, and my epidural slowly wearing off in order for me to be able to feel when I should push, I started feeling intense pain in my pelvic bone, so intense that even though I kept my cool during the back labor and the 2 hours of pushing, I lost it and just couldn't push anymore. During the time in which I was pushing, the OB nurse was coaching me through everything while my OB was finishing up another delivery. My OB finally came in and checked me and figured out that my baby's head was stuck in my pelvis and decided that I needed an emergency c-section. While getting me prepped, they discovered that Parker had passed meconium. We made it through the c-section (the anesthesiologist told me I'd feel "pressure", but I definitely felt every cut, tug, etc. They also had to push from my vag and pull from my uterus to get him out.) and luckily Parker didn't aspirate the meconium and was a perfectly healthy 7 pound 12 ounce baby boy.

I have mostly been a lurker so far, only asking questions when I can't find answers in other posts, but I want to be more active and I'm excited to join you in this board!
