So since Feb Ive been back and forth at the pedi almost every week with K. He was admitted in the hospital back in Feb with some virus and high fever. They gave him antibiotics and he started to feel fine for like a week. Then he started acting like he didnt feel good again.
Then his pedi upped his dose of Zantac like weekly...bc he was gaining weight.
3 weeks ago he stopped drinking his bottles almost completely and would just scream every time i fed him. Then they gave him another antibiotic and said he had an inner infection. The whole time on the antibiotic he was fine and ate normal. Then when he went off it ...he started refusing most of his bottle. He is like only drinking 2 oz at time. Then he refuses to eat anymore. Today he went from 730am to 7pm and only had 4 oz total.
I took K to pedi again . This lady said "oh he is just hungry. He just wants a chicken leg."
Umm no sh*t lady.... I know that but why is he struggling to eat and screaming in pain?
So this was here advice not to worry about formula at all this weekend, and force feed him 4-7 tbsp of oatmeal cereal during the day by spoon. Still give him the formula but force him to eat it or get worried if he doesnt eat any of it. That this is a sign that he just rather have real food.
Why am I not buying this?
So tomorrow Im calling a GI specialist....because Im really concerned that my child isnt eating. That he seems in pain when he does he eat. Im sick of having to struggle to get him to eat 2 oz. I really do not want to force feed my child cereal....

He was diagnosed with slient reflux back in feb....but he has been spitting up recently.
Have they checked him for pyloric stenosis and is he still gaining?
Ok, I'm clearly not a doctor, but I have never heard of force feeding your 3 month old oatmeal cereal because he just wants real food.... WHAT?! It doesn't even sound like it makes sense. I would totally get a second opinion and seek a new pediatrician.
Good luck with the GI doc... I hope our LO starts to feel better! I can't imagine what the poor little guy must be feeling like! ::Hugs::

He hasnt been checked for anything except an ear infection and to see why he was sick at 5 weeks. He has been gaining weight fine. Actually he is 16lbs right now. But as i write this post now....he once again is completely refusing bottles now. Ive gotten 1 oz down him since he woke up after sleeping 9 hours straight. Ive been on the phone all morning trying to get an GI doctor to see him asap. The earliest one is May 24th. Im getting ready to call a different pedi to see if they can see him like by Monday...if he makes it without dehydrating by then.
Have you changed bottles? Or formula? That's immediately what comes to mind...
I am so sorry you are going through this. If it were me I would go to urgent care or call other pedi's to get him in TODAY! Dehydration is nothing to mess with.
My LO has silent reflux and was refusing to eat. He would act super hungry, put his mouth on the nipple but not latch, and then back away and scream. My pedi was super concerned about pyloric stenosis and sent him for an U/S. Not saying that is what is going on, but I know that with these same symptoms, his Dr. was very worried and wanted the U/S done that day. Thank God it was negative and don't want to scare you, but sounds like they need to take you more seriously. Mom's usually have a good intuition about these things, so don't stop pushing the issue!!
