Cake frustration!

Argh so we have Coop's party in a few hours & we just went to pick up his Elmo cake that he wanted & this is what we got, a bubbly one, not a smooth finish on top like it is supposed to be. Anyone got any ideas how to smooth it out without wrecking the cake at the same time? So annoyed that we paid $50 for this cake & can hardly even read his name on it!

Re: Cake frustration!

  • I dont have any suggestions, but I would definitely be getting my $50 back!  That is a ridiculous amount to pay for a ruined cake!!

If it is, the problem is you have airbubbles under the image paper. means the baker sisnt make sure they smoothed it after applying. Since they applied the icing over the edges it will be tricky but you can get it much smoother. Take a pin and "pop" the airbubbles. then use your finger tips in a circular motion press the paper down, working from the inside to the edges. it wont be perfect but you can get it looking better for the party! make sure you get some (if not all) of your money back!

Sure is an edible image! Thanks Dawn we have now tried that suggestion & it does look slightly better. I am still annoyed though about it & DH called their head office and they said we should have never been handed over the cake like that- duh! Now we will just have to wait till Monday to hear from a Manager at head office about getting a refund.

So thoughtful of the cake shop though to offer us free candles though for the wrecked cake...not!

    Thanks Ladies!
