How will you dress your summer baby?

I am due the end of June with my first baby.  I am getting nervous about how to dress the baby, especially at night.  We have central air conditioning, so I was planning to just do a onesie and a light weight swaddle.  Any advice from moms with summer babies, or soon to be moms?

  • DS is a summer baby.  He wore a onesie until he went to footie jammies in the fall.  We have central air, but it's always a little warmer upstairs at our house.

  • We always put our DD in footie pj's last summer.  But, we keep the air on the colder side.

I would do the same as the others mentioned and put your LO in light cotton footed PJS, and either a cotton sleepsack or a light Woombie, etc. for swaddling.

They say babies need one layer more than we would, so if you have the AC on, it could get chilly :) GL!

  • I think that old rule 'one layer more than yourself' really does work.

E was born in July. He slept in a onesie and a light swaddle until fall. You dont want to overheat, and a light swaddle will also create body heat, so I think thatg was perfect.

We keep our house chilly at night, like 64 or so, year round. E sleeps in light pjs now in the summer and cotton footed pjs at night

  • I had an August baby.  I did light cotton footed jammie when the air was on and a onesie and pants (and socks, if necessary) when the air was off.  A light swaddle sometimes, too ..
  • Like the PP said one layer more then your self. When I was in the hospital the doctor said that DS should always have on 1 more layer then me. So maybe do a onesie and a light footed pj's and then of he feels too warm take 1 layer off. My 3 month old sleeps in a onesie but I swaddle him in a fleece blanket bc it get's cold with the AC at night. The warmer he is the better he sleeps. Congrats on the baby-to-be!
