Another Carseat S/O

Has anybody tried one of the Toddler Seat/Booster seat combos? I'm looking at the Evenflo Maestro or something similar that can go from a toddler carseat into a booster seat as J gets older. We'll move Asher into her current convertible seats.

TIA!

  • We have that one in Dh's car, it's our 2nd seat.  We have the Frontier 85 in my car, also a 5pt harness booster style.

  • Graco Nautilais is also rated well with CR, but costs more then Maestro.

  • We just bought the Maestro.  Haven't put it in the car yet.  But it goes to 50 pounds harnessed.  The Graco Nautilus goes to 65.  Note that at Target the other Evenflo one that's cheaper is labeled that it goes to 50 but it really only goes to 40.  So make sure to look at the actual product box not just the Target label.  :)

Anyway, we will use this in DH's car.  He's in the Evenflo Triumph in my car and that goes to 55 harnessed I think.  Then we'll just go to a regular booster.

  • We got two maestro;s last month and I really like them. Eli had outgrown his convertable seat and we still wanted something that he could be harnessed in since I dont trust him with just a belted harness. The seat weight goes up to 50 pounds in the harness and at only 35 pounds now he has a long way to go! He really likes the seat two cause its very roomy. His only complaint is that in our car it sits lower than the convertable did and he cant see out the window well anymore :)

We've been looking for a 5th seat(!) to keep one in our truck, but don't trust just the lap belt and I want a harness on it, not to mention, all those boosters say for over 40 pounds and Audrey is only 32. But DH doesn't want to spend more $$$ on carseats. I have not seen the Maestros...I will have to take a look!

No way would I put her in a regular booster yet.... 4 years AND 40 pounds is the minimum.  And even then they just look so small in a seat belt.  Plus the harness is so much more supportive in a crash.

COuldn't you just move one of your four other seats to the truck for the times you need it?

  • Exactly Jill...that is why I won't let DH buy a regular booster unless it has the full harness. She is way to small. Of course all those with a harness are $$. (and we already have 2 Britax boulevards, a Graco nautilus, and an Evenflo triumph). He really wants to have one in the truck all the time, but he drives the truck all of about....2x a month. (we've had it for 5 years and only put 3k miles on it in that time)

it's just a pain in the butt to install it in there since there is no latch and no locking seat belts in the back bench seat. He has to use the clip and monkey with it for a long time to get it right.
