STTN is hard for me, not her.

Does anyone else miss their baby as they are STTN in their crib? There are nights where I feel I just need to send myself to bed before I go in and scoop her up. Believe me, I am SUPER thankful for the striaght 10-12 hours she sleeps at night. She just got to that point about 2 weeks ago. But, even with being home all day with her, I miss her at night. I guess this is a sign I have no life, huh? *sigh*

If or should I say when I have a toddler along with her I am sure I will be saying the same thing! My 1st "baby" is going to be 12 next week, I just know how fast that went. I feel like I don't want to miss a second. Crazy, I know. But, she's also still in that "easy" baby stage where I could just stare at her all day long. I'm sure once she's scooting around I will not be able to get her in bed fast enough! haha!

  • yea I feel you!! Last night LO went down at 9 so I was able to hang out alone downtairs and watch TV. (DH is away on business) and it was SOOOO weird being down here watching TV without her in the swing or on my lap or on the floor playing!! But the red wine helped me get over it fast! I also fight the urge to check on her b.c I am convinced my footsteps will wake her!!

I can completely understand this. And this is also how my husband is. It breaks his heart when he ends up working late and only gets an hour with her before she gets to her exhaustion point and she needs to be put down for the night.

  • My DD doesn't sleep in her own room yet. Half the time, she doesn't even sleep in her bassinet. I usually nurse her to sleep in my bed and fall asleep with her, and I hate to put her in her bassinet, I love cuddling with her.

So I understand. I am going to be a wreck when we move her to the crib (probably this summer).

My first "baby" just turned 13 2 weeks ago so I know exactly how you feel. I cherish every second I hae with LO. I have been saying for about a month now that I'm moving him to his crib, but I just can't do it! I have him sleeping in his pack and play because he's outgrown his bassinet. I want to be able to look at him whenever I want. Although I think this weekend might be it for the crib transition, I am DREADING it!

I hit a point probably about 3 weeks ago where I realized I was missing my cuddle time with DS because he only nurses 4 times a day now and STTN 13 hrs and he is only awake for an hour at a time at the most.  So even though I am a SAHM I only get to be with him for about 3 hours a day.  So right now most of his awake time is on me, it is helping me to feel better about the lack of cuddle time.  He is still completely content to be by himself so I know the play time on me isn't bad for him.  I  think I needed it for my own happiness.

I do have to say though one nice thing about a baby that STTN is that I do get to enjoy a glass of wine etc after the last time I feed him.

ETA: When he first started STTN I was still waking up probably 3 times a night just because I was so used to it.  Now I can pretty much STTN as well.

That seems like an awful lot of sleep, and not a lot of eating.  Is he eating 6-8 ounces at each feeding if he's only eating 4 times a day?  I know that excessive sleepiness in a baby can be caused by not eating enough...my DD was sleeping A TON when I first went back to work because she wasn't used to taking a bottle, and I was so worried that she was only taking 3-4 ounces during my workday and was sleeping the whole rest of the time.  She became an "easy baby" for a few days...but I knew better and I knew that wasn't normal for her.  Now she is more used to me being gone, and is eating 8-10 ounces during the workday and is much more awake.  Something to be aware of--just make sure your DS is gaining properly.
