Easy come, easy go

Insurance just called and told me they don't cover anything for the donor (egg retrieval, transfer, etc) so basically we are back to paying OOP for the whole damn thing.  I wish I could delete all my happy dance PIP's now.

Oh well, not letting it get me down.  We were planning on paying in the first place and we have a plan so I'm staying positive!

Oh, I am really sorry - that sucks.  Will your insurance cover your ET?  I know that's not much of a cost.  I hope that everything works out.  Good luck hun.

I wonder why? That doesn't make sense. You're much more likely to actually get pregnant using DE, thus needing fewer IVF's, thus they'd be spending less money. How would they even know if you're using donor eggs? Is it all in the coding? Devil

I'm so sorry. That sucks! I have a dream that one day all insurance policies will cover IF for everyone. However you chose to use it- whether it be donor, surrogate, etc...

I mean really would it cost them anymore if they paid for the retrieval for you or for someone else?

They said they will cover my meds, but not hers and not the transfer.  Basically they won't cover anything with a significant cost associated with it!

To me, if my RE is saying I have to use DE's, then it should be covered.  But that's just me I guess.

I totally agree with  you but insurance companies suck!

Can your RE write the script for her meds in your name? Just to save SOME money.

Luna - Can you talk to your Re office and see if they cn do anything?  My insurance only pays for montioring 9 Blood work and ultrasound as long as it's not a ART cyle.   So basically I was told that they wouldn't cover my IUI cycle.  I asked Re if he charge everything else to ins and than they day of IUI I would pay for that OOP.  They just didn't submit the IUI part to insurnce since they weren't going to pay for it any way.   I know it's diffrent with IVF with a donor but, maybe there is something that they can cover that way.  Couldn't hurt to ask?   Good Luck!!!

I surely will squeeze as much as I can out of the insurance.  I don't even know how they would know who meds were for and things like that so you would think that I could at least sneak those through or something.  The transfer is the thing that I really don't understand.  How is it not covered when the donor isn't even present for it?
