NT scan - was your u/s normal, b/w not?

I told myself a few days ago, I would be happy from here on out. I have had several u/s (MD does one every appt) and my NT scan was perfect. Peri saw a nasal bone, NT measurement was 1.2

Now I am freaking that my b/w (not due back for 10-12 days) will be abnormal. I know this is rare, right? I have banned myself from Dr.Google from here on out.

Just wondering what others were told. And, did you have a good u/s but "bad" b/w?

Re: NT scan - was your u/s normal, b/w not?

  • Mine were both normal. But I've read many cases here on the bump where the b/w is good, NT is not and vice versa. I think those two variables are independent.

With Margaux, the scan gave awesome results, but the bloodwork came back and made the odds worse.  They were still okay odds, but it freaked me out enough to get an amnio and vow not to do the NT scan again.

Seriously, everything is very likely fine!

  • I had my NT ultrasound today and my results were great (1.38mm)

Im not even worried about the bloodwork now.

Im sure it will be fine, dont stress :)

  • Hi I'm just lurking because I'm an oddball, but I wanted to tell you I was afraid of the same thing! Actually your NT scan was much better than mine! Mine was measured at 2.2.  And I was worried because at the beginning of my pregnancy my hcg was way high.  So I twiddled my thumbs for 9 days worrying that my hcg would still be way high and cause my bloodwork to come back abnormal.  Well, I'm happy to say that my odds came back at 1:2600 for T21 and 1:10,000 for T18.  I wasn't given a number for T13-don't know why.  Anyway, the point is anything can happen, but with such a good NT scan it is likely that any worrying you are doing will be for nothing.  I am actually debating getting the second round of blood work.  I don't know if I feel like fretting about it for another week and might just be happy with the preliminary results.

  • As far as I understand, the bloodwork just gives you the odds on something bad, not a foregone conclusion. If odds were conclusions, I'd be a whole lot luckier at the race track :)

Your measurement is great!! Even if your odds end up being 1 in 100, that means you have a 99 to 1 chance that everything is fine, and since you have the measurement to back it up, focus on that.
