When did LO start to focus on you?

My LO is a 31 week preemie, so his adjusted age is only around 3 weeks. But I feel like he just looks right through me sometimes and doesnt really focus on me or the goofy faces I make to him. When did your LO start focusing on you?

My LO just started being able to focus on me about a week ago I would say. Before that she would do just as you described. She still only manages to focus on me for a short while in the morning when she's less fussy, well rested and fed.

I would say give your LO a few more weeks, she'll get there, especially since she's a premie.

  • I feel like my LO can do this already. Not every time mind you, but often.

  • Yeah we noticed between 2 and 3 weeks that she was starting to make eye contact with us rather than just look through us. It wasn't everytime but it was more often than not. Now she does whenever she looks at us and it's such an amazing feeling!

  • My little one is 1 month today, and I've noticed a big change this week in his ability to focus on our faces. It will come.
  • This week, at 5 weeks, she started focusing on me and smiling

  • Linus actually stares right into my eyes the majority of the time they're open when he's drinking a bottle. I feel guilty looking away because he looks so intently! He really was looking at us almost immediately. I know they physically can't focus wen they're born, but it seemed like by a week old he was looking at us and not through us.

This-Sebastian is 13 days old but he was 11 days late
(not sure if that has anything todo with it). He stares at me all the time and I feel like he is focused on me.
