Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Gerber 2nd foods

If you feed your LO the Gerber 2nd level containers, how much a day?  Jacob gets 1/2 a container with cereal in the morning and at night and one full container at lunch without the cereal.  I looked at a sample menu on the Gerber website and it looks like I'm giving him too much...they say to give 1/3 at a time and it ends up being 1 1/3 containers.  He gets at least 2 a day and 28 oz formula.  I know all babies are different, just curious how much Gerber your's is getting

TIA :)

Re: Gerber 2nd foods

  • C gets a full jar of Stage 2 fruit for breakfast (no cereal). And at least 1/2 to a full jar of veggies or protein/veggie combo for dinner. Also Stage 2. It's not Gerber brand, but the sizes are comparable, I believe.

He also drinks about 30 ounces of formula a day. I'll be implementing lunch within the next few weeks hopefully.

  • I saw that sample menu too and I think it's not enough. DS rarely snacks throughout the day. I make 95% of what he eats but it evens out to be about one full 3.5 container at each meal- bfast, lunch, and dinner with some oatmeal for bfast too.  personally think 1/3 at each meal is not enough especially at this age. My pedi said not to give more than 4 oz at one sitting. I think he's fine with what he's getting. If he eats it then your good.

  • I let Roman eat as much as he wants. Usually it's 1/3 to a half of a jar per sitting but if he wants the whole jar I let him.
  • DS gets 1 tub fruit with cereal for breakfast, 1 tub veggie with 6 oz formula for lunch, and 1 tub veggie with 1/2 tub fruit with cereal for dinner, with a few bottles inbetween. So thats 3.5 tubs and about 24-28 oz of formula a day.
  • My son eats 2- 3.5-4 oz jars/tubs a day. One at breakfast (with cereal) 8-8:30 and one for dinner, 6-6:30. He drinks 28-29 oz of formula a day but sometimes will leave 1-3 oz in a bottle or two a day.

  • Thanks for your input!  Looks like Jacob is right on track :)!
