NBR: Mixing 2 hair colors together?

So I bought two boxes of the John Frieda Foam hair color- a medium red brown and a chocolate brown... my hair is growing out from a redish/brown color...

Would I be ok mixing the two boxed colors? I just dont want to end up with a funky color.

My hair is thick and i need two boxes and they didnt have two of the same...

If I can mix how should I apply it? one color then the next? or all in one bottle?

I tried mixing 2 hair colors once, it turned out purple.

I mix Colorsilk all the time and use equal parts before adding them to the developer. I think that would be a bit harder with the foam.

Ditto. I would be too afraid of coming out with some crazy color. Is there a hair salon you could call for advice? I'm sure they'd be able to tell you if it's okay or not.

I was reading he instructions and it said if you have long hair to use the whole bottle so maybe one would be enough.. and i could always add the other if need be in a week or so?

no. you could mix if you were using professional colors and knew what you were doing. otherwise, no.

I have really long think hair & I just colored it the other day & I just used 1 box. I dont know how think urs is but I would think you would only need 1. The foam is sooo nice & it applies sooo much easier than the other stuff. GL!!
