XP: Breathable bumpers worth it?

I had quite a point of view about bumpers in general before LO came along and I still feel they don't have a place in the crib (turned mine from the bedding set into a valence). Well, now the radish has learned to scoot and roll back to tummy and both the nanny and I are a bit concerned about arms/legs stuck in crib slats. She's worried about broken arms, I'm more worried about the bottom line of the amount of sleep this will affect.Anyway, so my point is, she's just about 6 months, do I bother with the breathable bumpers? Anyone have a rave review for me or any pet peeves? Also I have a Graco convertible crib, it'll fit onto it right? I feel I have to ask since we tried that crib tent (to keep kitty out) and the piece of you know what wouldn't fit a convertible crib...Also is there a point, since one is supposed to remove bumpers when baby is pulling up. I did read that these ones you can leave on, but I'd still be nervous. TIA ladies, (also posted in nov 10)

  • I think they are worth it. I love ours, I wouldn't go without it.

  • They're pretty soft too so I don't think they can stand on them...when they can stand that is....I really like ours

  • That settles it then! I'm going for it.
  • i love mine too because it prevents my son from sticking his legs in the slats. i stayed at a hotel a few weeks ago and he woke up screaming 3 times from having his leg stuck in the hotel's crib. he has never done that at home.

why would you not want them?

  • I like it, helps keep DD hands and feet from going between the slats.

  • we went from no bumper to the breathable, and i love it. my lo doesnt seem to mind it at all either.

  • We really like ours.  Our power went out the other night so we had to go stay at my parent's house.  There was no bumper in the crib there and she got her arm stuck between the slat and it woke her up.  No broken arm or anything, but I had to go help her get it out and soothe her back to sleep.
  • I love ours. DS had been rolling and scooting so much in his crib that he was getting his arms and legs stuck in the rails. So I went and got this bumper and love it. He no longer get stuck and it collapses so he can't pull up on it or when he gets older stand on it.

  • We got breathable bumpers right around the 6 month mark - and they are wonderful! Totally worth it. DS doesn't get stuck in the slats anymore and sleeps all night. :)

As for the pulling up, my DS isn't there yet, but when he puts weight on the bumpers (like to try to see the dog), it does collapse. So I think that would be safe in that case as well. I feel comfortable leaving them on there anyway.

We have the Graco Lauren crib (pretty sure it's convertible). They work with all kinds of cribs. There are 3 sets of instructions!
