Fabric colour leakage, help please!

I recently bought about $120 worth of fabric for my small home business. I pre-washed it all together as per usual and one of the red fabrics went ape-sh*t and ran into all the other fabrics. I immediately bought Dylon Colour Run Remover but it didn't really help much.

I have no idea what else to do. I have emailed the website I bought it from and they've been in touch with me. Not sure if they're planning to replace the fabrics? Waiting to hear back again.

Even if they do, I don't want to waste so much fabric. Has anyone got any suggestions as to how I might remove the dye? I was thinking of a soak in bleach but I don't have much luck with it! I could add some to the washing machine and put it though another cycle? WWYT?? Any EF solutions?

Re: Fabric colour leakage, help please!

  • i don't know if it will help now, but i've had similar things happen before and i just did another cold wash (taking the offending bleeder out of course) i want to say i threw in a couple scoops of borax or bizz (i use powder, so i put it in a jar w/hot water and shook to dissolve). soak overnight in the bizz/borax if you can and then possibly do an extra cold rinse.

that helped some, but i don't know if that will work now that you've used that color remover stuff.  but i'm guessing it wouldn't hurt anyway!

that really sucks that happened :-(  i'm always scared to wash red stuff for fear it's going to bleed all over everything.
