Non-clicky poll - When did you ovulate after giving birth?

DS is over 6 months old and I haven't had my first pp period yet. I fully weaned him 3-4 weeks ago (following nearly 2 months of nursing and formula feeding) then had a positive opk about a week later. I have also been checking my cm etc. and it all matched up, so I was sure that I was finally ovulating again!

However now 16 days later, I don't have my period and I'm definitely not pregnant...

So I know it's been asked before, but when did you ovulate for the first time after you gave birth?

Please explain the circumstances (e.g., you were/n't breastfeeding, etc.), TIA!!

Uh, well. I had to have ovulated in the three months after having DD. I never charted because i have PCOS and I wasn't ovulating at all before DD. So I'm not sure. I did have one period 8 weeks pp.

I got Mirena 6 weeks after having DS. I guess I'm no help, lol!

got my first postpartum period at 11.5 months, so I'm guessing I ovulated about 12-14 days before that. I breastfed on demand until I returned to work (at 11.5 months- got my period my first week back)

I never got my pp because of BF. My last cycle was Dec 2008, I had DS Sep 2009, BF for a year, and got a BFP right before this Thanksgiving. Obviously I ovulated for the first time right after I stopped BF and got pregnant that round.

#1-I BF for 5 weeks. Got AF 6 weeks later.

#2-I BF for 10 days. Got AF 6 weeks later.

I got my first pp period at exactly 4 weeks pp. I was bf'ing both times, but my supply was awful with both kids. I never, never once o'ed on my own before my first daughter who was conceived via IVF. I have PCOS and also never had a regular period until I had children. I think pregnancy kinda of "fixed" my PCOS, at least temporarily. Thus why my kids are only 12 months and 2 days apart! We never thought we could get pg on our own.

I had my first AF when DD was exactly 5 months, so I guess I O'd around then(?) I had stopped BFing about 1.5 months earlier.

I had my first pp period on Jan 1st (almost 7 months pp)! Happy New Year to me! I am still BFing but I ovulated shortly after I introduced solids at 6 months. I got pregnant on my 3rd cycle.

I never O'd until my kids were fully weaned, so around 9-10 months PP each time.

With my first daughter, I EBF and got AF when she was 2.5 months old and got it regularly every 35-40 days after that until I got pregnant when she was 5 months.

This time, I EBF and got AF when my baby was just 5 weeks old- literally the DAY after my PP bleeding stopped. I don't know why my body thinks I should just keep popping out babies, but I was really hoping for more of a break! I've already had 3 PP periods so far and my baby is barely 4 months old.

Both times I ovulated 2 weeks after I fully weaned. I got pg that time after DS, and never got an AF until after DD was born!

Thanks again all! I guess I meant in relation to stopping breastfeeding, how long did it take for your cycle to resume. Should have made that more clear! Ooops

Anyway, I got a pretty good idea from all of your experiences, although I probably should have taken into account the fact that you all must have had a relatively quick resumption of your cycles, otherwise you wouldn't be on this board! Lol

I'll just keep waiting and checking...

I don't know, but it was within the first 3.5 months, because that is when I got pg with DD2. I got my first pp period just shy of 7 weeks after DD1's birth. I was exclusively bfing at the time - not even pumping.

I had my first pp period when DD was 6 months (June) when we introduced solids however I went off bc in October (when DD was 10 months) to TTC however I was still BF until very end of January (DD was 13.5 months) and then got PG in mid-February so apparently I wasn't o'ing even though I was getting a regular monthly cycle while I was BF.

So our two will be 23 months apart.

DS #1 was born December 2009. I exclusively breastfed until November 2010 and started weaning one feeding at a time and stopped breastfeeding early December 2010. I got my first PP period in December 2010 and then was pregnant again the next month in January 2011.
