So I was diagnosed with Cholestasis but a pretty mild case. They put me on medicine and the itching went away. Well yesterday it came back pretty fierce despite the medicine. I went in yesterday for blood work and then today to get results, it came back normal. The Doctor, who I hadn't met before, upped my dose of medicine and her only other advice was to take Benadryl. She was pretty adamant about it. However last time I took Benadryl it just made me tired and my feet and hands still itched. I was able to fall asleep eventually but it wasn't a very restful sleep. Also the baby didn't move as much as a result of the medicine. Since one of the risks of Cholestasis is an increased risk of stillborn, I don't feel comfortable taking it and not being able to feel LO move.
However here I sit at 1 am with a back scratcher itching the crap out of my feet. I am miserable. This sucks. I don't believe that my liver levels are still normal, it feels like it did when I first got diagnosed.
Re: WWYD
I don't know if this would help, but have you tried any home remedies? Maybe an oatmeal bath? I know that helps with itching if you have chick. pox or something. You could try that just to get some relief and then I would call my doctor. You are allowed to advocate for yourself and if it feels like something's not right, just talk to them.
I hope you feel better soon!
