Her cries are like nails on a chalk board

Please. Anyone. Any suggestions to soothe poor LO??? She is teething...and screams all day... It hurts to see her in so much pain but I don't know what else I can do! She is clean, changed, fed, cuddled to death, she has the allowed amount of orajel and I even broke and gave her the 1/2 dose of Tylenol... I just don't know what else to do! She screams and fusses and screams and fusses for literally hours upon hours and NOTHING will stop her. Not a bath, not the swing, not the bouncer or paci, not the boppy, or her mommy :o(

I am all alone here and I just can't take this anymore.

Sorry for my vent I am just at my breaking point. I feel like any moment I am going to revert back to mothers day morning where I was sitting in tears ready to jump out the window after 7 hours of this.

Please tell me your tricks!!!!

My DH has this way of manipulating her body into different positions (sideways, belly down, etc.) that are helpful in settling down a screaming LO. He just tries different position until one of them doesn't make her scream her head off.

I'm not very good at it, but he is. Worth a shot?

  • Since she's teething, have you given her some frozen stuff to chew on?  Maybe a frozen teething ring, or a wet washcloth rolled up and frozen.  It may give her some relief for a little while anyway.

As much as it hurts you, you may need to put her down in her crib for a few minutes and take a few deep breaths.  Crying babies are very hard!

  • My only soothing technique is to put baby boy on the boob. I let him nurse as long as he wants when he is fussy. It's better than screaming. And he usually falls asleep. If he wakes up crying, I nurse him again.

  • Have you tried the 5 S's?

  • 5 s's failed....going to go chill a wash cloth  -  her mouth seems too small for the teether I have.....

  • If the teether is to big def try the washcloth. I can't imagine how she must feel being so little and already having to deal with teething. Hopefully, for your sake, this phase is quick.

Ditto. I'm sorry you have to go through this. I am NOT looking forward to the teething stage whatsoever. And I feel so bad for your little peanut having to deal with this so young :(

Maybe get one of those mesh feeder things and put an ice cube in it to let her suck on. GL!

  • Seems too young for teething. Is she gassy? Try the colic hold- it helps calm LO when he is really fussy.

Are you sure it's not colic? She's at the right age for that to be starting.

The screaming is hard to take, it is. Do you have anyone who could come hold her for a little bit and give you a break?

Other than that, I'm sorry to say there aren't many great solutions. It's a phase, and you just have to ride it out, as hard as that is.

It does seem rather early to be teething - colic seems more likely.

In any case, have you tried wearing her?  The swaddling effect of being worn in a wrap or sling coupled with being next to mama and moving calms the vast majority of babies.  In any case, it gives your arms a break.

When DD is super cranky, I wrap her and go for a walk or bounce on the exercise ball - that does the trick every time.

This. I put LO in a wrap when he is really fussy. He passes out before I even get the wrap tied

  • Turning on the vacuum or putting her in her car seat in the bathroom with the shower on. She just went through what we think was a 6 week growth spurt/additional awake and fussy times (reflux resolved with baby Zanatac), so we've also been trying everything. Those with the 5S's have been a life saver.
