VBAC success with prior procedures in addition to a c/s?

I'm just getting to the point in my pregnancy when I told my midwife I would try to decide if I wanted to try for a vbac.  With my 2nd pregnancy I was certain this was the route for me to take, but now I think about risks a little differently and I'm not sure.  They did tell me that I would still be a good candidate after having a late term D&E, but that in addition to the lap surgery I had before DD makes me question things.  It's hard after being so positive and confident in my body previously.

I was hoping to hear some sucess stories from women in similar positions.  If it makes a difference my c/s was at 39w for low fluid and a breech baby.  I never had a single contraction.

Thanks.

Re: VBAC success with prior procedures in addition to a c/s?

  • I had other uterine surgeries before my vbac. First son was breech, never labored and had c/s at 39 weeks. After him I had two m/c. One required an emergency d&c two weeks later for hemmorging(sp?). Then I had two partial septum resections done lap, and an umbilical hernia repair during one if those. I got pregnant a few months after those surgeries and had a successful vbac of one big baby boy 9 months later. (at 41.2weeks) good luck!!

  • I had #1 by c/s, then a year later had laproscopic surgery for an ectopic pregnancy, I had a successful VBAC 2 months ago.  It was never brought up that my surgery would have any effect on my chances of a VBAC.
