how do you clean LO's toys/chewies

how do you clean the toys that can't be washed in water - like the electronic ones or some of the kind with cloth/suffed animal and a chewie on it?  we have tons of these - especially some of the baby einstein toys that have a plush with some type of chew toy attached.

i was using like lysol or clorox wipes to disinfect them, and then wiping them thoroughly with a wet cloth to get the chemicals/icky taste off of them, but i know there must be something easier and more baby friendly!

  • I wipe them with a cloth dampened with Babyganics "The Cleaner Upper". For disinfecting, I use very diluted bleach (a few drops in about five cups of water) on a cloth and then rinse-wipe with a clean damp cloth.

  • I've been using vinegar. It's so acidic that it has antibacterial properties.  If the you is plush with a chewy and no sound then sometimes I just toss it in the wash.   Hope this helps!

  • When I worked at a daycare we would mix clorox with water and spray them down and let them sit. We did this after all of the children went home so that they solution could sit and disinfect and clean and also allow time for the solution to wear off (? of word choice).

Worked great then :) Hope this helps. Just to be sure if i remembered it correctly i googled if clorox is safe, and it is as long as it sits at least a night for the solution to wear off. :)
