Soooo, I'm in the middle of purging my house, anyone else?

I had NO idea the amount of random stuff that has come into our household in the past 3 years (I purged the house last while pg w/ Saxton).

I had kept Christmas cards to upcycle into ornaments, DH had kept his eye solution bottles for model railroad oil refinery tanks, a pile of old shirts were waiting to become rags, the kids' movies were out of control, we own more than 30 extension cords, ect.  It's just unreal.

We're even purging out furniture and electronics.  The front porch is filling up with yardsale bins and items quickly, and our annunal yardsale is looking to be a really big one

Anyone else cleanning out the clutter this spring?

Next month is purge month.  I both look forward to it and dread it.

I've been in the middle of it for months!  I've been dragging my feet, but we just found out we are having a neighborhood yardsale next weekend so I better get hoppin!

  • The church runs two yardsales a year and this year is the year to purge hard.  The first yardsale is in June.  I have my eye on the shed, including the extra washer and dryer.

By the second yardsale in fall, we'll be almost all the way through the house.

  • I just started. I took a car full today to Goodwill, have another car full already to drop off tomorrow. And I've only gone through the kids stuff! Yikes! I want to do all the storage areas too though because I know there is way too much stuff there.
  • I love to purge so I kinda do it continuosly but I recently did extra in the kitchen and my closet...feels great!

  • Um, we haven't purged in almost 9 years!

I am so sick of having all this rediculous stuff around and really need and want to get rid of things, but I won't have time to do any of it until August. So in August I will be going crazy. I don't even know where to begin.

Any tips for a first time purger that has a ton of stuff?

  • I started in January, then my size and exhaustion got the better of me.  I just started back up again last weekend, and the yard sale boxes are taking over the basement!  I just did the dining room tonight, actually, and the bathroom and kitchen are on tap for tomorrow.

  • It's insane how happy I am with so much gone.  I've been doing this since mid-February, and there is so much stuff still to go through.  I mean, who knew we owned an aluminum camping table?  Or TWO tents?  Also, I don't recall the box fan we found in the 3rd floor storage closet the other day.

The fun side of purging?  Laughing at my USAF maternity uniforms, expecially the jumper.

  • We have been purging too, mainly kid stuff and my stuff but a few of DH's things.  We were gearing up for a charity yard sale and I dropped everything off yesterday, it was awesome!

  • I'm working up to it.  I'm keep things for sentimental value and "future projects" and really need to get over it.  I'm getting frustrated with how much stuff we have and never use and with two almost mobile babes in a small house I really need to just take the leap and start pitching.  I'm trying to use the "if I haven't touched it in 6 months" approach.  I hope it works.
