I am asking myself this same question. You know..the ultra stinky ones that happen every 5 minutes? I have always had them on my period. But this time...farts and no period. And yes...I know this is gross.

I've always figured they're caused by muscle contractions somewhere in your abdomen (squeezing your intestine). If that's the case, it makes sense that you would have them also when your stressed. I always get a case of "deployment farts" every time I see my husband off at the airport because I'm so tense. Perhaps you're stressing a little overmuch about this cycle?

Nope, its the same farts every period. And I have bad cramps too. Not the poop kinds. But please dont be jealous that you haven't ever had them....
All I can say about this is THANK GOD I DON'T GET "Period Farts!" Bahahahaha!
It's enough that when AF is in town I feel the need to go poo throughout the day AND have miserable cramps and not mentioning the horrible "flow!" I think this would just put the icing on the cake!

IVF #1 January 2012, ER Jan 14th: 34R, 27M, 23F. Day 3: 18 embies still strong. Day 5: zero "good," one "fair," the rest "poor." Transferred 3. None made it to blast or to freeze. Jan 28: BFN.
Lucky IVF #2: Transferred two beautiful day three embies on St. Patrick's Day. BFP on HPT 7dp3dt. Beta 1 (14dpER)=106; Beta 2 (16dpER)=140; Beta 3 (19dpER)=264! First u/s 4.17.

I get them too. I also get some to a lesser extent around O, I have noticed. Based on this alone, I agree with the idea they are likely hormone based.

I get them too and it is usually how I know AF is here. Just the other day I was complaining to DH about how gassy I was and his response was, it's because you are on your period and you are always gassy then (more than normal).
