Why are they giving up on me?

I will be calling tomorrow... but maybe someone has some insight.

Follie check #2 today... my lining went from 6.5 to 8 (Yay POM juice!!). Then she pokes and prods around and says "Hmmmmm.... I don't see any mature." I ask about the 11mm one I had on Monday. She then says "yeah.. not mature... it's maybe a 15". Then she said "Okay... just call me when you get your period for your next cycle. I'm not saying it wont happen for you, still continue to have intercourse. But call, because we need to up your dose of clomid to 100mg." I was just so dumbfounded that I didn't say anything there, I didn't even know what to say.

Now that I thought about it, why are they giving up on me so soon? Why can't I come back on Monday, CD 18, for another check to see how my follie is? Maybe it'll be good to trigger and not too mature?

Part of me wants to trigger myself anyways Saturday or Sunday... but I know I can't do that without knowing what was going on in there.

Damnit. Why is TTCAL so frustrating?! I don't even have OPKs (besides digitals that I don't want to "waste") to hopefully O a mature egg on my own or not!

I really can't offer any advice since I've never been in your shoes, but what a bummer! I, too, wonder why they would give up on CD 14? Just keep getting busy Wink

I really hope you get a BFP and do NOT have to call them back because of a period!! FX for you Cashews!!

Thanks. I was just really looking forward to triggering! Especially since last cycle my follie was totally *too* mature.

That is really weird. I would definitely call and ask. Last cycle, I was making slow progress too, but they just had me keep coming back. I didn't end up triggering until CD 18 and O'ing on CD 19. And this cycle, even with the response from the previous cycle, they kept me at 50 mg of Clomid.

I think you should call and see if you can get more answers from them. The whole thing seems really weird.

That sucks. At my RE they check on CD12 or 13. I've only gone in once, so I have no idea what happens if the follicle isn't ready. This cycle I'll do the trigger shot, too.

I would say call. I just dug up the piece of paper they gave me with info on the dominant follicle scan. It says, "If the ultrasound does not indicate that there is a mature dominant follicle present, you will be given further instructions regarding what to do. You may be asked to repeat the ultrasound at a later date."

I've never been in this position, so I don't have any advice, but I can't understand why they would want to give up on you at CD14. Why not have you back in around CD18 or so? I would definitely call, get all the info you can, ask to come in again.

I just assumed I would be asked to repeat the ultrasound! That's why I was so shocked she said "Okay, just call me next cycle."

No advice really...I would definitely call tomorrow...doesn't hurt to find out why she is saying that and to advocate for yourself...but definitely lots of ((big hugs)) your way!

I just assumed I would be asked to repeat the ultrasound! That's why I was so shocked she said "Okay, just call me next cycle."

I would think they would just keep having you come in every two days...because if it isn't maturing, or if it's getting too mature too fast, that could make it tricky to know how to time everything... Hoping the phone call goes well!!

That totally sucks!! I agree with everyone else and say call to see if you can give it another try this cycle. Does your doctor have any clue how long and far away "next cycle" feels TTCAL??? Hmm

Don't give up! My last cycle on clomid they said it was a no go and I got pregnant with twins. I think they should check your follie on Monday just to see what is going on in there! Good luck to you! Oh and for this cycle of clomid on CD 13 I had one follie at 11mm last cycle I had no follies on CD 12. So please don't let them give up on you!

Oh last thing...it sounds like your follie is growing pretty close to schedule. My OB told me that it should grow 2 to 3 mm a day.

I'm surprised that they don't keep bringing you back every other day for another u/s. Very strange. Call again to make sure! You don't want some bad info to cause a wasted cycle for you.

This exactly! I would call and see what they say. That way maybe you won't have to wait a whole month again. Although hopefully you'll get pregnant and not have to deal with any of that. GL!

I agree with pp's though, I really think they should have you come back in for another check, it is still early. I would expect they would have you come back in on Saturday or Sunday to check you again. I would call for sure and ask to be checked again. That seems strange that they would dismiss your cycle so soon.

What cycle day do you nomally O on? The only thing I can think of is that your body is gearing up to O and without a dominant follie they just want you to have TI because they feel the follie won't mature before O. Follies can grow up to 2mm a day so maybe they feel you will O before the follie is mature. Either way I would call to get some clarification.

I would call back and see if you can get in on Monday. I agree with a previous poster that maybe your doc is tied to a certain O time and thinks you'll O before follie matures, but as we all know - nothing is for certain, especially when it comes to fertility. Don't count yourself out yet and your doc shouldn't either. ((Hugs to You and GL))

I'd call too They shouldnt be giving up on you, it may just be too early and you are gearing up to o a bit later than the standard 14 day Confused that Drs like so much.

I would ask to come in on Monday.

Hi Cashew...just out of curiosity, I know before you had said you are going to a fertility specialist. Do you mean an RE? Because I can't believe that they would tell you to give up on a cycle!

I would call back and see if you could come in for another ultrasound for CD 18. I generally ovulate around CD 20, and I told the nurse it would be worthless for me to come in for CD 10 ultrasounds like they usually do.

My "specialist" is really a PAC who used to work closely with an RE for 15 years. She then moved into my OBs practice and became the specialist. When I asked my OB for help getting pregnant they set me up with an appointment with her. So she's not an RE, but pretty damn close if you ask me.

I'm in for another ultrasound on Monday!
