I highly recommend my ob/gyn-- Dr. Bret Lewis.(he's with Northside/Northpoint OB/GYN).  I've been seeing him for 14 years.  He took the fast path for me for fertility.  He had me pregnant within 3 months after DH and I tried on our own for 6 months. I was 34 at the time and 36 again with #2.  He doesn't mess around.  I have endometriosis so it was important for me to get pregnant as quickly as possible because I was off the pill.

He will have you chart (take temp every morning), have your fallopian tubes tested, and have DH tested.  He's a great option before going to a fertility specialist that might not be covered by insurance.

I adore Dr. Session at Emory's Reproductive Medicine Center.  She is incredibly smart and up on all the literature and very sweet (she may not come off as the most touchy-feely person, but I honestly think she's pretty shy).  I really like Dr. Spencer too.  She was initially a fellow when I did my IVF and now is an attending.  I've gone through a good bit with the group--a lap that diagnosed endo, an ectopic, IVF, and recently a FET, and I've talked a good bit with Dr. Session about what our next steps should be, if we chose to take them.  If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me.  Good luck!

  • My two miracles in my siggy are courtesy of ACRM.  With my oldest, I was on the cusp of AMA and with my youngest, I was definitely AMA.  Dr. Hasty was my main doctor but all of the doctors there are wonderful as is the rest of the staff.  Best of luck!
  • Loved ACRM.  I used Dr. Toner and loved him.

Dr. Dominguez (no longer at Emory) and Dr. Spencer brought me DD. I was very happy with my experience at Emory too.

  • Thank you all for the recommendations. I'll look into them!

*And hope you don't mind if I stop in occassionally with TTC questions.

I gotta co-sign with recommending Dr Session over at Emory. I started over at the clinic this year. I am 35 and went in for an IUI. I found the ppl to be really helpful and friendly. My IUI worked on the second cycle. Good luck!

I was 36 when I had my daughter with the help of ACRM, and am now pg with my 2nd child also with the help of ACRM.  I TRUST my doctor, Dr Denis.  I had read up on fertility treatments like a mad woman, and when I talked to him about different procedures and tests, he talked me OUT of them.  He was so patient with all my questions and was honest enough NOT to perform unnecessary testing and procedures on me.  Once I came in and asked him about a procedure that's not legal in the US that can be done overseas - which is ridiculous for me to suggest - but he took the time to talk to me all about it anyway.  I received exceptional care.  At ACRM you see a Dr at every visit.  Even the ultrasounds are performed by a physician, not a tech, so there was so much opportunity to have patient discussions.  I also loved that I had an assigned nurse (Laura) who was so wonderful.  One of the procedure nurses sent me a card at home after my miscarriage, on her own, simply because she cared.

There used to be an awesome embryologist at Emory -- he left and now works at ACRM.  One of the Drs from RBA recently left to work at ACRM also.

IF you discover you have a male factor problem, then I would have to recommend RBA instead.  They have a urologist there that specializes in male factor issues who is THE MAN.  Otherwise, I recommend ACRM.  RBA is also a good clinic, BUT they have a much higher rate of HOM and recommend and perform embryo testing at a really high rate ---- and I have to question whether that is necessary.  However, as the patient, you can make decisions about that stuff.  But honestly that's why I went to ACRM instead.  I wasn't comfortable with the HOM rate and the additional testing I heard other patients having.

I have never been to Emory.  BUT, I have 3 friends that did and all had awful experiences and switched to RBA.  Dr Sessions has an awesome reputation, but the overall treatment my friends received was not good.  And what's interesting about their stats, they tend to not perform IVF on AMA patients.  Their published success rates are really good --- but since they aren't performing IVF for patients with lesser chances, of course they are.  I find that disturbing.  One friend I had did 6 IUIs at Emory.  Which was NOT good treatment and wasted her time and money.

Ditto this.  Dr. Spencer was my doctor and she is great, sweet, thorough and smart.  I saw Dr. Session and liked her too.
