My LO came out and they kept calling him "baked". I guess thats what they call it when a baby has super dry, think, peeling skin everywhere. They say the reason was from being in labor so long, amniotic fluid being low, & because there was meconium
in the fluid (it had been there for a few weeks at least. It's so sad, his skin is super dry, peeling everywhere, & looks so painful
They say I can't put any type of lotion on him. They say it's fairly common, so anyone else dealing with that? Did you get to do anything that helped?
Re: Anyone else have a baby that was "baked"?
Whats J&J? It looks sooo bad, good to know it doesn't hurt them though. once it peels it looks like little scratches all over him.

Johnson & Johnson, but if your dr told you not to, I'd go with that!
My guy was born "sunny side up"-- face up, so they couldn't turn him.
I think its funny that there are so many cooking terms for babies. Ha.
Both of mine has been like that. DS was so bad that the skin on his ankles was cracking so I put petroleum jelly on it.
DD's wasn't so bad it was cracking but the skin around her ankles was super peely, too. I put lotion on her after her first bath because the water makes it worse and I know how uncomfortably itchy dry skin can be...

You could try a little olive or coconut oil if you want to "cheat". I'd use that before I'd use a commercial lotion, just because those have many more weird ingredients. You could test just a little part of him for a day or two to make sure he didn't react before greasing up the whole baby.
Mine doesn't have skin issues, but we're using coconut oil on the bum instead of Vaseline (washes out of cloth diapers better).

yeah, i wouldn't use any of those baby lotions. check the ingredients, they're full of alcohols and other chemicals that will just irritate your LO's skin. I used straight baby oil right after bath. vaseline would work too.
