Per this thread, we're hoping to condense a lot of the "gawker" threads into one! We thought this would make them more fun to browse and the board an easier read. We'll start a new thread every day to keep the list fresh.
Anyone is welcome to add to the post--local hospital names, the awful name you over heard at the park, Facebook horrors, and anything else that might give us a good chuckle! Feel free to comment, too.
Re: Post your facebook, hospital & other name horrors here
Probably b/c it is HIDEOUS.
And for Bryntleigh, i thought it was the first Youneek spelling of Bently to come up. Took me a minute to guess that its supposed to be Brent-lee?
I suppose its supposed to be Brent-Lee. That is the only logical conclusion I could come to. I don't understand why parents have to butcher perfectly good names by adding y's k's and extra n's at the end. I want to name my daughter Evelyn and someone posted a few days ago and totally butchered the name. It was spelled Evalinn or something like that
Dh is directing a play for community theater. There were plenty of Noahs, Kristins, etc but three names stood out
Denae (g-19)
Shade ( b-9-10ish)
Irish (g-10-11ish....and for some reason her parents had let her dye her hair bright pink)
PAL/PGAL Welcome
Hero
Ruby Scarlet Crimson
A friend of a friend's 3 yr old daughter's name is Payshince...as in "patience".
Irish isn't a very common name but I don't think it's bad, and I'm not sure what her dyed pink hair has to do with anything.
A friend of my friends daughter is named Kahmylla.

Ladasha - yes - you say the dash
Urban legend, check it out on snopes. Someone comes in everyday with this one, yet no one has actually met some one personally with this name. Only a friend knows someone.
I have to ask, are these pronounced differently? Because they look like they would be pronounced exactly the same.

I met someone with this name- it's pronounced "EE-VANKA" but everybody mispronounced it big time!
I believe she was Polish...
(reveal) Hi, I was lurking and just had to comment. Mikaela is the correct spelling if the family is Spanish or Hispanic. You run across this one a lot in the Southwest.
Love this thread - it always makes me laugh. (back to lurking)
Jamesha and Timmya
Either they were really hoping for boys, or really wanted to name them after a male family member or something.

Actually, the letter K isn't native to the Spanish language:
https://www.studyspanish.com/pronunciation/letter_kw.htm
https://www.spanishclassonline.com/grammar/spanishalphabet.htm
It may be used by Spanish speakers to get the sound, but it's not "correct" since K doesn't exist in native Spanish.

I think Hannelore might be after a web comic. It's called Questionable Content, and it's hysterical. Not something I would want to name my kid after though...
Thanks for posting this - very interesting! My SO and his family are originally from Mexico and Spanish is their first language. When I asked my SO about the letter '"k", he first immediately said that "k" was a part of his language. But when I pointed out the second link, which said that "k" was primarily used in words taken from other languages, he said he would have to ponder that statement. He also disagrees with the website about the "ch" and "ll" not being separate letters in the alphabet. He's now on a mission to find out if this site was written by native speaker; and if so, which culture. It made for great dinner talk - lol.
