Could very possibly be reflux. All 3 of my kids have done that and had to be on medication for reflux. Incline the mattress of their crib, and I even prop my baby up on a pillow when changing her diaper. I would mention it to your ped as well.
I am having the same issue with LO. It happens awhile after breastfeeding. She never spits up what she is gagging on either. I haven't found a solution yet. Hopefully someone has some answers because it is very scary.

N doesn't throw up either because he has silent reflux, also N didn't have every symptom but he did have quite a few...follow the link: HTH

Your very welcome. You should maybe print out the info on the page to give your doctor ( believe it or not silent reflux gets passed over by doctors all the time ) and make a list of all your LO's symptoms ( we have baby brain ), it will help your ped.more knowing all of your LO issues.

DD was doing the same thing and also spitting up quite a bit after eating. Her pedi put her on Zantac which helped, but getting her a Rock N' Play to sleep in helped even more. I tried inclining her bassinet mattress but I couldn't incline it enough to really help that much. The first night she slept in her RNP, it added 2-3 hours to her normal sleeping time. I can't say enough about how much it has helped!
Until the age of about 9 mos to a year, all infants will have a natural reflux because the sphincter at the top of their stomachs are too immature to keep all of its contents in the stomach. It happens in all babies to some degree. Your first LO clearly didn't have as much weakness in the sphincter, or you were able to keep them upright more, there are many factors that could be at play as to why #1 didn't but #2 does.
So, due to gravity, yes, there will be some natural refluxing. This doesn't mean that it's something you need to medicate your child for.
