I've found an upholstered rocking chair that I'm considering for baby #2's nursery--we have a a limited budget and it's a really good price. I don't like the look of a traditional glider and want to stay away from those. Other upholstered gliders are a little out of our budget, otherwise I'd just go that route.

Re: Would you get a rocking chair for your nursery?
I really like that! Where is it from?
I don't like the look of traditional gliders either and bought a Poang rocking chair from Ikea. Its very comfortable and I like the way it looks, and I don't really mind this but the rocking motion is suprisingly limited.

If I could do it over again, I would get something like that. We have the traditional glider, and while it is nice and we used it a lot I won't be able to reuse it once we are done having kids. Me and DH were at BBB this weekend and DH fell in love with a chair like that. He thinks we should get it and put it in our loft, since that is where we spend most of our time.
By the way, where did you find that one? If it is in our budget I might think about getting it, the one at BBB was way over our budget!
Food Allergies to Eggs, Milk, Peanuts, Tree Nuts & Beef
Challenged Soy and tolerated it.
For those who asked: it's a Durel from Walmart ($219 with the slipcover).
We have something similar too. But, ours reclines also. we love it and baby isnt even hear yet :-) I think its a good investment.
We haven't, it's only available online! That's what I'm most worried about, we have a super nice leather chair that is also a glider in DD1's room and it's really easy to use. I'm not sure that this one is going to be as "easy" to use! We went ahead and ordered it, since I've been stalking it for months and it's never in stock!

I love the idea! I think a rocker would be wonderful to have. I would love to have this one:

You can actually buy legs and change it into a regular chair later.
My DH works a second job at Pottery Barn (only for the 40% discount), so it makes it a little more affordable.
I think it will be a great addition to your nursery - and we may copy your idea!
Absolutely. That is a beautiful piece of furniture. If you decided you didn't want it in the nursery anymore it would work great in a living room too.
We didn't use ours initially since she slept in our room the first 4 months, but ever since she has been in her own room I feed her in there and read to her. I think its an absolute must!
