recipes for a 1st bday cake?

I'm a little early on this, but didn't want to do the traditional bakery cake - did you ladies do anything different for your LO's 1st bday cake?

Re: recipes for a 1st bday cake?

  • DS ate so little of it, that no, I just did a regular boxed cake to save time and my sanity.  Even his 2nd birthday, he barely touched it because he was to excited about the toys.  There are definitely healthier options out there, though! :)

  • I have used an egg-free spice wacky cake (can share the recipe if you want) for both my kids.  It's a big hit because it's so yummy and especially if there are allergy issues with any guests.  It isn't so great for decorating the cake but I made cupcakes for DS' first and it was great for that!
