when do YOU give meds

ds has an underarm temp of 100. he is complaining of body aches.

i want the fever to kick this virus to the curb, but i feel for my miserable boy. i was planning to give him meds this evening to keep him comfortable enough to sleep tonight

would you give ibuprofen now, or let his body fight it off?

    N is absolutely miserable when he has a fever.  I know the fever is getting rid of the yuck, but I almost always give motrin if it's over 100.  I just can't stand to see him so uncomfortable.

    If DS is complaining of body aches I give him something because he so rarely complains when he doesn't feel well. The only time I know he isn't feeling well is by looking at him or taking his temp. He just can't/won't tell me unless the problem is really bothering him.

    I usually try to hold off giving meds at all but if I do have to I wait till bed time too, but A can't really tell me yet how she feels yet... If she seems overly miserable i'll give it to her whenever though. since he is telling you, I might just give...

    If he's doing okay I wait until 102 (or 101 under arm). If he's miserable I give him meds. Being sick sucks. If he's miserable and I can make it better I will.

    If DS (almost 3) complains of body aches etc and has a fever, I'll give him something for sure.  For DD (6.5 months)- she is cutting teeth right now and during periods where nothing else works, I give her a little advil/tylenol.
