Mommy Care Kit suggestions

Hey ladies,

I'm making a mommy care kit for a baby shower I'm attending next month. I'd love suggestions of items (pharmacy and otherwise) you didn't think to buy but would have liked to have once you brought your baby home. This is what I've got so far:

1. Ibuprofin

2. Hemorrhoid cream (too personal? she's a close friend)

3. Small bottle of olive oil (for breastfeeding/pumping lube) I HATED lanolin!

PLEASE MAKE SUGGESTIONS!

Re: Mommy Care Kit suggestions

  • Cute idea- she's lucky to have such a thoughtful friend!

Here are a few suggestions: pads (?), concealer, nursing tanks (if she plans to nurse), big water bottle (I had one attached to my ass (still do)- BFing makes a woman thirsty!)),

As a side, your hospital didn't provide you with the tucks (witch hazel) pads?

  • It may sound awful but prune juice.  I was so constipated after delivery and small amounts of prune juice was my only saving grace.

Def water bottle (a good one)

I got baby Tylenol at my shower and I loved that I had it already when we went for shots.

  • My sister did this for me, and it was great.

If she is planning on nursing, maybe nursing pads and some mothers milk tea.

  • I know it's not mommy care, but I just gave 2 friends the Milkies milk catcher as part of their shower gifts. I'm not sure what they are called but I had some gel ice pack things for my boobs for the first few painful weeks of breastfeeding.

  • These might be too personal, but were necessities for me because I had a pretty serious episiotomy cut: Dermoplast spray and stool softeners.

  • If someone were to give me a care kit this is what I'd want:

chapstick, some of those gel pad things for sore nips, cozy socks or slippers, stretchy headbands/hair ties, nail polish, chocolate, ice pack

  • How about a gift certificate for something like pizza delivery?  The only thing that I wish I had and didn't already when I came home from the hospital was tucks pads.  Oh, I really wished I had the ice bubbles that the hospital had too.  We tried to make them but it just wasn't working.  I wonder if they sell something with the same effect.
