  • We won't be, but I wish I had the extra $150 to do it!

That's kind of where we are.... I want to do it but H doesn't want to spend the money. But they have a weekday special and that's only $75....

  • I always wanted one done but could never see spending the money on it with my others. With this little guy being our last I REALLY wanted to have one done. Luckily my OB got a new machine and does them for $75! {The other places we were looking at were between $150 adn $250.} I had mine at 28 weeks and it was fascinating. I got really cute shots of his chubby cheeks, and we were able to see him suck his toes, and play with his umbilical cord. It was amazing. :) It was, however, uncomfortable. Because the way he was laying I had to lay on my side and it was hard seeing the screen. It strained my neck and by the time I got up I was super dizzy and sore. It was worth it though, and that's my only complaint. :)

    This, exactly.

I'm secretly hoping they'll turn on the 3D for a few minutes during my growth scan next week...

We get u/s every month because I am high risk.  The tech has been using 4D before LO even looked like a LO :)  I feel blessed that I know the tech and she seems to spend extra time getting good shots when we are there. But I would also give up the u/s to know that LO would make it to term.  As of now they think I have about 2-4 weeks left.

  • We got one but we had to pay $150, it was just to find out the sex of the baby really, so it was worth it, plus we got some cute pictures =)

I clearly don't know your budget, but coming from another DR person, can you set aside the money and bring it to the table to have another conversation with your DH about it?

  • We did it, but our little one would not cooperate when it came to showing her face. She was head down, hands over her face pressed up against my ute. Stubborn little brat. Stick out tongue

  • I only did because my mom really wanted it for her 50th b-day/Mother's Day so it was a bonus for me. Otherwise I wouldn't have, but I'm so glad we did! It was such a fun experience and helped me bond with my pregnancy even more (been having issues with this). I have watched the DVD probably 6 times now! :) I was initially creeped out by some of the 3D images I have seen and was leaning toward doing just a 2D, but I'm really glad we did the 3D/4D.
  • I decided to do it this time since this is likely my last LO. I also wanted to confirm that LO is a girl, and I likely will not have another u/s per my dr. DH wasn't happy about us having to pay for it, but in the end he really enjoyed it and was happy that we did it. I, of course, really enjoyed it too. LO was a lil stubborn at first, but the tech did a great job at being patient and getting some neat pics. The pics are amazing. LO really looks a lot like DD, it is crazy!

  • I sure did!  I got it at 29 weeks and brought my mom, dad, MIL and husband. I really wanted confirmation of the sex and just to have the whole 'experience' of it.  Plus, I like looking at the pictures I got. :)

This for us too. My mom is making me feel worse about it by constantly asking me if we're going to get one because "so-and-so at work got one and their little girl is just beautiful. I started crying when I saw it so I just think that it would be so nice for you to put in her baby book."

Yes, mom, it would be nice. Kindly fork over the $150 and I'll get right on that. Confused

  • I did the 3d/4d at 15 weeks for gender identification and then they gave us a discount on our second visit at 30 weeks. At the 15 weeks we found out he has a penis and at 30 weeks we found out he has dimples..lol! Both visits were a success!
  • The tech gave me a 3D shot at my anatomy scan (18 weeks) at my dr's office, but it's horrible. you can see one babies leg and a hand of the other baby. I've never asked for another one, but at my growth scan the week after next I'm going to ask if she'll try and get a quick head shot of at least one baby for DH - he always says he can never see what he's looking at from our u/s pics.

I don't see what the big deal would be -  they always schedule me for an hour because of the twins and the tech always finishes in 30 minutes....so it's not like I'd be taking up more time or anything.....

  • We had one done on Tues, and he didn't cooperate. They had us leave, go get lunch and come back almost 2 hours later....still nothing!! He wouldn't show his face, just a nice shot of his spine! So, we rescheduled for next Tues and are hoping to get some pics at that visit since we already paid for it.

  • We didn't.

Elective ultrasounds are neither regulated nor approved by the FDA.

  • At 18 weeks when I had no pregnancy symptoms or felt any movement (later found out this was due to an anterior placenta) we had one done.  I was so relieved that she was okay in there that I burst into tears!

The place offered a discount for multiple visits, so we are going back at 33 weeks and have invited my parents to join.

This.  And I was able to confirm the sex.  So no need to spend for another at this point, so close to the end.

Well we have a big chunk of money going into savings every month, so it would just come out of that. So, we have the money... but it's supposed to be for savings. He's not totally against it, if I push hard enough he'll say it's fine but he thinks it's frivolous (which it is Smile)

  • I'm not having one. There are other things we would rather spend the money on. Plus, DH and I both think they're creepy Stick out tongue.
  • Yep. Had one at 16w (it was about $90), one at 22w (free, I won it), and one aqgain this weekend (at 31w) (I referred a friend, so it's only costing $60).

The place we go to has this real time viewing thing, where our families in CA can watch in real time. Due to the distance, we're not seeing any family during this PG (heck, DH's family won't even meet LO until Christmas), so the $150 we're spending it worth it, IMO to make our families feel like they are a part of this PG. This is the first (and looooong awaited) grandchild on each side, so we have quite a few people emotionally invested in the contents of my ute.

HA! Us too. DH will find them on our friend's facebooks and flash them at me while making a "raaaaawwwwrrr" noise. :P
