A good vacation with LO?

I am normally a lurker and post here and there but not much. I need a good place to go on vacation with DH, and our 2 DD's during the summer. Any ideas? We need a place that has sun and beach for momma, cheap for DH, and fun for a 9 year old that gets bored fast and for DD #2 that will be ten months at the time of vacation. Thanks in advance.

    We have been to Gulf Shores, AL and Panama City Beach, FL.  Gulf Shores was a little more family oriented.

    I'm in upstate NY, and we are going to a Poconos resort for a week, sharing a rental with my parents. It's about 1 1/2 hrs away for us. This way we'll be by a lake for water fun, can do some shopping at the Crossings, and my parents will be babysitters a few times so DH and I can get a nice dinner together, etc. There'd be a lot of good day trips (Crystal Cave, some water parks, Knoebels) for your 9yo too.

    I see you're from NYC, we're from Philly and go to the Jersey shore every summer for my whole life, its great for kids of all ages.  Personally I love Ocean City, NJ, its a very family friendly town with a great boardwalk.  However it is a dry town (no alcohol sold in restaurants or stores) so that can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on personal preference.  (You can buy booze 5mins away and bring it over the bridge.)  Other towns like Sea Isle and Avalon are also nice, although they don't have as many things to do b/c they don't have the boardwalk.  It's probably a 3hr-ish drive from NYC.  You can rent a house for a week or stay in a hotel, lots of options.

    Sorry for the post and run. I would like to fly,not sure how DD #2 would do on a long car ride. The jersey shore sounds great. I wouuld like to do that this summer sometime. must look into that.
