How do you do nights with DH?

We split shifts. I sleep from8-2, he watches her. I watch her 2am on.

Re: How do you do nights with DH?

  • DS usually only gets up once a night, so I do the feeding.  If he happens to get up a second time then DH gets it.

  • She's mine until 1:30... So I just have to get her to bed which is anywhere from 8-10... then at 1:30 I leave for work and she's his... she gets up for a feeding anywhere from 5-7 and then they pretty much sleep until I get home!

  • I am not back to work yet, but DH only gets up if I need something- if not he sleeps.

  • That is what we do on weekends or when neither of us have to work, or else we take turns so that one of us gets a full night sleep. Now that i'm back to work and DH is the SAHD for the season, he is on night duty during the week.

But DS STTN the last 2 nights, knock on wood!! Stick out tongue

  • I SAH and am still BFing so I get up with DS.

  • So far, its all me (but I'm still not back to work either).

But, DH will take the baby sometime after work until 11 pm or midnight so that I can lay down and try to nap.

On especially fussy days when I really am tired (i get bad migraines from being over tired) he'll take the baby to his moms and hang out there for a few hours so i can have an empty house to nap in.

  • I'm on maternity leave right now, so I feel that I should be up with DS so DH can get some sleep for work. He usually comes home around 6 and takes the baby until 10ish, when he puts him to bed. I usually go to bed around 8:30 so I can get some sleep because I get up with DS for the rest of the night. So I guess it's a little like taking shifts.
  • I am home during the day, so DH sleeps except on weekends. ?I get to sleep in.
  • We switch off every other day. Our son is FF so this works well for us. That way we know that every other night we can catch up on sleep *usually*.

  • I am still at home so I do night and day.  DH feeds baby when he gets home from work.  DS has been fussy so Dh will usually pass him back to me. On weekends we alternate night feedings. You are smart to go to bed at 8:30.
  • DH has gotten up with DS one time since we've been home from the hospital - DS is just about 3 months old.
  • I'm on maternity leave until late next year and BF, so I get up and let DH sleep.  He will help if it sounds like I need something and usually offers to get up and get me ice water or something.  Last night was a fussy night and DH asked when I would start pumping so he could help out with feedings.
  • I take the entire shift.  (Once DH is asleep, there's no waking him up)

He takes over when he gets home though until 10pm

  • We're FF, so we alternate nights...so nice to not have to get up every other night.  Of course I'm up, because I hear DH and the baby, but the sleep is still much better!

  • DH does not wake up.

Once every blue moon I get him to get up on a weekend.  But I have to work so hard to get him up, it is less work to just go to DS myself!
