sewers: altering a carbag/bunting thingamajig

i bought 2 of these(well similar to this, not this exactly), on clearance.  one is size 0-3 and the other is 6-9.

my bff is due in early december so i'm going to give her the 0-3 sized one.  it's got a slit in it for the carseat buckle, and i wish i'd had one of these for ds, so i'm excited to give her one.

anyway, i'm going to keep the 6-9 one for myself but really need it to be sized more like a 3-6.  i've compared the two, and they're the same width, same sleeve length, seems the only difference is the 6-9 one is slightly wider (at most 2") and the length is maybe 2-3" longer...

so should i attempt to alter this, and make it shorter? (any tips on that??) or should i just use it as is?

  • i would think you could even just rig it to be shorter if it was really needed. like maybe sew some snaps or buttons into the back side so it could fold up on itself at different lengths? will there be an issue if there's some extra fabric hanging off the end?

  • ooh snaps is a good idea!  much easier than what i was thinking of doing to it lol!

i'll probably just wait and see how big dd is once it gets cold enough to use this thing and then see how much adjusting it needs.
