NSAHMR - Fish Oil

I just wanted to share my experience with fish oil tablets in case anyone else is having the same trouble I was having with my nails.  They were super brittle and would break at the edge of the nail bed.  They would not even grow into the white part.  I figured I just had crazy weak nails after pregnancy (they were never great to begin with, but not this bad) and there was nothing I could do.  Any kind of strengthener I put on the actual nail would not work.  Then I heard a blurb on TV saying something about fish oil and helping weak nails.  I had some here but never used it, so I figured it couldn't hurt to try.  Well, I have been taking it for over 3 months now, but saw results after about 3 weeks.  My nails are so much stronger.  They grow nicely and even make it through all the house cleaning, dishwashing and kid cleaning/bathing.  Not only that, but my hair is growing faster and longer and my skin is smoother.  My elbows used to be very dry and now I could skip the lotion if I wanted to.  I know I sound like an infomercial, but I swear it's all true.  I just thought I'd share my experience in case anyone else could benefit.

I'm glad it worked for you!  I've been taking fish oil capsules for months, and I still have really brittle nails and dry skin.  :(

  • Fish oil can help so many things! My dad's doctor prescribed it for something (can't remember what - health related). I give my girls the gummy ones from Costco, and I take those too ;)

kacelle, my friend has been having the same problem and her doctor ran some blood work on her...turned out she was severely vitamin D deficient! Her doc prescribed some mega high dose of vitamin D and she's doing much better. More energy, nails are growing and not so brittle, hair isn't falling out as much..... might be worth a shot for you :)

I have used both Nature's Bounty and Nature Made.  I make sure to take whatever the recommended dose is (for Nature Made I think it's one pill three times a day).
