When are you supposed to do that? Has anyone already done it? I think I remember at my very first appointment that I need to register around 20 weeks...which is tomorrow for me. I have a doctors appt first thing in the morning and I plan to ask her and possible register tomorrow....I was just curious of how long it would take to do. Any info? TIA
Re: Registering at the Hospital?
They told me to do it sometime after 20 weeks.
I never registered with DS, and it really wasn't a big deal. By registering, they'll try to get you on a payment plan and I refused to pay for services before I recieved them, so I never registered. They still delivered him
And they got paid
I probably will register this time though, just so I won't have to fill out that paperwork while I'm in labor. It wasn't much, but I didn't read through it the way I should have.
I registered at the hospital about two weeks ago, I think. Anyway, it's done so I don't have to remember to do that. I already told my doc and she said "Great!".
With my hospital, I could register on their website, which they prefer. Took all of 5min. to complete. My doctor said after the baby is born, I'll fill out the SSN, and birth cert. stuff. Which doesn't take long at all.
The hospital where DS1&2 were born, they had me register and fill out the SSN/Birth Cert out around my 6th or 7th month. Can't remember. Every place has different preferences.
You don't have to. They can try to make you, but legally (according to my insurance rep) they can't make you pay for services before they've been provided. Not a hospital anyway. Alot of people like doing that, so they don't have to worry about if afterwards. So it's up to you.
Really? What if it's an emergency? Like someone from out of town? They just wouldn't let them get an epidural? What if you planned on a natural birth and changed your mind? Too bad so sad? I would have MAJOR issues with that policy.
Seriously!!! What if you don't pre register (which not everyone does!)? What if you end up being in labor for a realllllllllllllly long time and change your mind??
Small private hospital...they won't accept you if you go into labor prior to 37 weeks. Instead they provide transportation to the larger hospital 45 min down the road. I don't know the details to be honest, but my understanding was if you didn't have the pre-consultation with the anesthesiologist, then you were left to pain options a nurse could administer. Of course, I think an emergency c-section would be an exception.
I'm not sure when youre supposed to register..But I plan to do it around week 30 or so..My hospital only registers every friday and a certain time..
I didnt register with DD and the nurse scolded me "Well, if you had registered early you wouldnt have all this paperwork to do while you're in labor"
Meanwhile, I didnt say a word about all the paperwork..They need happier night shift nurses :P
Guess I should drag out that paperwork about the hospital they gave me at my first appointment and actually read it.
This is just one more thing I learned on the bump that I had no clue about. When I read the title, I thought, "Register at the hospital?? You can't buy me gifts there!"
But, I just pre-registered online! Wahoo...I love filling out forms! (No, seriously, I love to fill stuff like that out!)
LOL, you are crazy girl
There is still hope for some gift shop gifts for baby Charley
My hospital has a similar policy so I went to an epidural consultation last week. The anesthesiologist facilitiated the session and provided some paperwork that needed to be completed. It was basic medical history so my information would be on file when I actually arrived for L&D. My impression was that some medical issues could make a patient ineligible for an epidural, which is part of the reason they want it on file in advance. I'm not sure what would have happened if I decided to go natural and didn't attend the consult. I haven't completely made up my mind which is why I decided to just participate anyway.
Glad I'm not the only one, lol!
I haven't even thought about when to pre-register. I was given the form at my first appt, but haven't filled it out yet.
Pre-registering seems like a waste at my hospital. They will just come in and ask me the same questions to make sure that all the information is correct, so I'll still have someone bothering me during labor. I worked at this hospital for 7 years and I know they will do this. Besides, I am in their system already with all updated information.
