Still waiting with a "high" cervix...

OK...so at my appointment Monday I was having contractions about 5-7 minutes apart. They sent me to the hospital to have a NST and everything was fantastic, but my docs keep saying I'm not dilated. However, also have been losing my mucous plug over the past 24 hours and contractions are coming and going. Has anyone else's doc told them their cervix is "too high" to have a vaginal delivery? Sounds like BS to me...I don't actually think they could reach my cervix to check it. They still want me to have the RCS Thursday morning, so I desperately need this baby to make a move!!

Sigh...sorry, this was really just a huge vent...

It IS BS. Your cervix could still be very posterior & they probably couldn't reach it.

FWIW, my friend just had a vaginal delivery (not a VBAC). She was closed at her 39wk appt on Thurs, contractions started Fri night @ 1030, and she had her baby before midnight last night. She had a long prodromal/early labor, and she went natural (and avoided all interventions until late yesterday evening). I would take those comments with a grain of salt. :(

  • Personally, I would try to push out your RCS.  It seems like you are making progress - though it might not be exactly on their schedule.   Was there a reason that you were scheduled for 41 weeks?   Can you talk to your OB on the phone and try to make your case?  Maybe even tell them that your contractions are getting stronger?

  • Don't want to sound stupid, but what is "high" cervix?  I didn't realize the dr. couldn't feel it easily. I was 2.5 cms at my first internal at 36 weeks.
