MH took me to the jewelry store to pick out a piece of jewelry...anything that I wanted! I ended up getting a beautiful pendant necklace. What a nice surprise! We also went to the nursery and got a bunch of flowers to plant for our front porch. It was the first really warm day of the year, it was just perfect!

Re: So...what did you end up getting for Mother's Day?
Nice!
I knew I was getting a new phone (since I asked for it!), so on Saturday we went to the Apple Store and picked out a new phone and case, then went to lunch together (MH worked on Sunday) as a family. He did also bring home flowers and a card on Sunday, which was really nice!
Our DH's did good! :-)
I got the camera that I wanted! I was not sure if I was gonna get it so I was thrilled when I saw the box :-). I also got a very nice card and very nice flowers for the house. We also had lunch at the restaurant of my choice. All I wanted was to eat blue crabs so we went to a crab house and got the crab feast :-). After lunch, we spent the rest of the day at the National Zoo for E's 1st zoo trip. She loved it and it was a lot of fun :-).
Ooh, that is awesome, ladies!
MH gave me a topaz/diamond pendant for our anniversary (4/24). That kind of tied in to Mother's Day, me thinks
However, he let me sleep in until 11am (!!), gave me a beautiful card and made me breakfast and dinner. It was a nice day.
I love Hawaii!

I got cards from both my boys and a mani/pedi gc to a salon down the street.
in the afternoon, MH took LO while I got my hair done for the first time in several years.
$200 is steep for me to spend on me, so doesn't happen often!
Then we ordered yummy pizza for dinner. YAY!

Oooooh, that's the camera I have! I love it!
Also, funny, we *almost* went to the zoo on Sunday too! We ended up taking Alexa to ride the choo-choo train at Cabin John Park. Fun!
As for Mother's Day... I got flowers? I thought that was really nice but all these gifts sound really extravagant! We just treated ourselves to a 2-night stay at the Grand Hyatt on Kauai so maybe that counts......

Our DH's are really nice:-)
H and I went to Kona for one night and then he surpirsed me with a 90 minute minute massage at the spa:-) It was super nice and oh so relaxing. The night before we went to Ruth's Chris....not the best place to bring a toddler...but we still had a nice time.
Now I have to plan something really nice for Fathers Day:)
Oh really?? Cool! Prior to receiving this, I know NOTHING about DLSRs. Actually, until now lol. I haven't done any research or anything. DH picked this out himself. Did you take a photography class? The kit comes with a tutorial DVD which I have not looked at yet. As it is though, it's very user friendly and I like it :-).
It would have been great if we bumped into each other at the zoo. It was a last minute decision. We were trying to decide whether to go to the Arboretum or National zoo.
The 2 night, baby-free stay in Kauai is a GREAT gift :-).
Ditto! I'll start another post about this.

I was supposed to get to sleep in Sunday morning. It's all I wanted and all I asked for. But after lying there listening to Will scream for 10 minutes because Ben isn't as fast at changing both of them as I am (he took like 30 min to get them changed and dressed!), I said eff it and got up anyway. So then I was cranky. And then we had lunch with Ben's parents which was mostly OK, but his dad was in a bit of a mood so it all felt somewhat forced.
Having lunch with them annoyed me because I feel like the fact that MIL likes to host these types of things means Ben gets out of having to think of or contribute anything 99% of the time. He knows that if he just keeps putting off making plans to take me out to lunch or whatever for long enough, MIL will ask if we want to come over, since she likes celebrating pretty much any day on the calendar with a luncheon. Well, I don't think he consciously thinks about it that way, but it's something that's happened often enough that I think that's what he subconsciously does.
And THAT makes me cranky because I don't want ropes of diamonds, just for him to put in a little thought and effort, you know? I told him all of this and asked him to name the last thing he planned for me or us as a family...he said the boys' birthday party and I told him no, he certainly contributed (he baked the cupcakes) but *I* planned it all. He hasn't even given me a birthday celebration - dinner or a cake or anything - in 3 years! (I should say that he's always given me gifts, but sometimes a girl wants a damn cake, kwim?
) So I called him on it, and we had a big talk, and hopefully he'll be more conscious about things in the future...
Make room for me on the bench!
I didn't get anything either, well besides eggs for breakfast, although my DH does have a valid excuse this time. He's been sick this month, and was just released from the hospital a few days prior to Mother's Day.
Soooo, I definitely didn't get my day "off." Instead, I took Cassie to Toys R Us because she's been wanting a broom (she's into Snow White at the moment), had leftover pizza for lunch, and then took her to the zoo. We came home and I fed her dinner, gave her a bath, and put her to bed. I'm pretty sure it was 10 pm before I had dinner. I was exhausted!!
I did sign up for a 3 day photography workshop in September that was a bit pricey so I guess I can consider that part of my gift.....well I know my DH certainly is still riding on that :P
On a more serious note, I'm happy to hear all of you had a great Mother's Day! Some of those presents sound faaaaancy!
I got a card and flowers and we spent the afternoon with my mom and g'ma.
and I should be getting some polka dot Boden packages in the mail soon
I'm better at shopping for myself anyways!
some of you got really awesome gifts! I have never really thought of it as a big gift day... once J is older I would expect MH to take him shopping to pick something for me, but still nothing too fancy
Yay for Boden deliveries
