Storage bags for breast milk

I am planning on breastfeeding as much as possible, but will build up a small storage for times that DH wants to feed the baby or we have a sitter. Does the brand of storage bag really matter? I just don't want to buy all the pricey accessories that go along with a certain pump if I don't need to. The brand Simplisse has cheaper storage bags than the other brands.

Any help would be great! TIA

Re: Storage bags for breast milk

  • I liked the Lansinoh brand.  They have double zipper to guard against leaking.  I didn't try any other brands though.  So I'm not sure if they are all like that.

  • I have a medela pump and used lansinoh bags they dont matter unless you are wanting to attach it to the pump (medela bags can attach) but i dont think the extra cost is worth it. i could even use parents choice bottles to pump in to with my medela pump and those are wayy cheaper then the medela bottles

Another vote for Lansinoh - they have pretty good deals on them on Amazon. I didn't try other brands but I heard that they can split when defrosting (never happened with Lansinoh).

  • I actually really liked Snappies since I could pump into them, then feed DD1 from them. But, they don't hold much. Actually, now that I think about it, they're probably really only good for NICU babies. Sorry!

  • I have the Medela pump and buy the Medela accessories that go to it. I'm not for mixing brands cause they are made for them specifically.

I don't know what you have, but those bags have always worked for me.  I think you can get a 50ct. box for $8.99 anywhere. That's not bad at all. : )

Brand did make a difference for me. I like Lansinoh, but I only tried a few others. I hated the shape of the Medela bags, they wouldn't flatten for storage and I tried another kind that was so thin a few of them burst and the milk was ruined. So, give a few a try, but my rec would be Lansinoh.
